I flashed endless zips trying to fix my LTE on Cyanogenmod 11. Nothing worked until now. So for those STILL having issues here's a Modified APN ZIP. I flashed my GNex back to stock 4.3, then navigated to /system/etc/ and copied the original apns-conf file that came with the stock ROM and saved it to my PC. Then I downloaded the Ting APN Android 4.3 version 3.zip file (Google) and replaced that apns-conf with the stock version I saved earlier. I re-zipped it as 'Ting_APNs_Android_4.4 (02-28-14).zip'. I rebooted my phone to Recovery Mode (TWRP) and did a factory reset (REQUIRED). Then I flashed my 3 ZIP files; CM11(ROM), GAPPs 4.4, and my own Ting_APNs_Android_4.4 (02-28-14).zip. Reboot and setup your device really quick. That's it! If LTE doesn't show up right away disable Wi-Fi if enabled, navigate to Settings>Mobile Networks (under Wireless & Networks) and make sure your mobile Data Connection is enabled and LTE is selected then navigate to Settings>About Phone>Sprint System Updates and click Update Profile and Update PRL. Thanks to the original creator of this file.

This fixed my 3g issue under the latest March 2014 CM11 nightlies. Thanks!
How do you have Settings>About Phone>Sprint System Updates on a CM11 ROM? I lost that when I started running custom ROMs.
@Matthew Trent You're welcome! Glad it did it's job. @Scott Ferguson, I have no idea why I have a Sprint System Updates option on my phone. I have a Galaxy Nexus and it's always been there whether I'm running Stock or CM10-11 so I assumed it was normal...I uploaded a screenshot.
@Deante Flood Ahh, that must be it. I'm running on a LG Optimus G currently and it doesn't have that option, but I just checked, and my old Galaxy Nexus does.
This worked for me, I now have LTE. Thanks!
Do you know how to change the MMSC URL to http://mms.plspictures.com in CM11?
My Sprint LG Optimus G lost data connection (No 3G or LTE) after updating rom to CM11 Kitkat nightlies two weeks ago. Phone does not have the option Settings>About Phone>Sprint System Updates > Update Profile and Update PRL. Is it possible to get data working again?
Try downloading today's nightly, it's my understanding that CM recently made changes to the way the phone handles APNs and it took them a few tries to get it right. It was recently fixed so download the 3-19 nightly, reboot into recovery, flash the new nightly, then flash my APN zip. Reboot and let me know what happened.
@Deante...I
a) downloaded the 3-19 nightly
b) rebooted into recovery using Quickboot
,c) flashed the new nightly and then flashed your APN zip
d) Rebooted.
Still same result. No data or Sprint menu options in 'About Phone'. I have attached some screenshots.
Yes, I did a factory reset before doing the two zip file flashing. Also made sure the data is enabled and set to LTE. I'm at a loss to get my data connection working again.
I also have an LG Optimus G, and I never got it to work either, doing the same steps including factory reset. I finally opted to go back to stock using LGNPST. Data works fine on stock. I would prefer CM11, but I really only need it for low power bluetooth, which I've decided I can live without.
@scott...I will have to do what you did to get my data connection working again. Can you please include the steps you took?
Here are the directions that I followed with links to the files to download. You will have to factory reset and lose all files on your device, so back everything up to your computer first. http://pastebin.com/83yf2ZcA
Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582 for more information about rooting and unlocking your device after resetting. If you need assistance while working check out this IRC channel. They've helped me in the past.

Thanks...I will give it a try now and see how it goes...thanks much.
@scott...woohoo...that worked. I'm not going back to custom roms...not worth my time...thank you for all the help... this is a wonderful place...
I've tried using this fix but for some reason data still doesn't work. I have a Sprint Galaxy S4.
I've been trying to use Omni ROM or Gummy or really any 4.4 AOSP based rom but I can't connect to the data. I can see the signal but I can't connect to it!
Some info about the phone Baseband Version is L720VPUFNAE & the PRL version is 54015. Don't know if that helps but if anyone has any ideas please let me know!
for all the optimus lg ls970 users, im on the 4.4.2 pacman rom, its amazing btw!, i had no internet,so i flashedback to the stock rom, type on the dialer ##767530## enter manually your device mls and msid (you can find them on your ting acc under device settings), then updated my prl and profile, then flash cm11, gapps, and the ting apn zip on the begining of this thread, everything works great!!
the fix works. what i had to do-----
1. i started with a working Sprint phone with CM11 rom
2. flash to Stock Sprint rom using Odin or Clockworkmod, set up Ting account, do the ##72786# process, phone activates on Ting and everything works. Update PRL and Profile while on Stock rom
3. Re-install CM11 rom from .zip file (not from clockworkmod backup! need to start fresh and CLEAR DATA in clockworkmod), and GAPPS zip file.
4. Install Ting APN .zip file from this thread, using clockworkmod
5. Reboot, and should be good-to-go, with Ting on CM11 rom
The big hangup for me was trying to restore my old CM11 backup. I tried over and over, trying to restore that backup and then install the APN zip, the mobile data just would never work. Have to start fresh, clear data and install APN zip FIRST, then boot. There must be some initial configuration that needs to be done, simply dropping in the new apns-conf.xml is not enough. Hope this helps the next person. Thanks OP for providing this patch.
Worked a trick for me on a Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710). I followed the same steps as chris just above and have tested it out in an area with decent LTE coverage; it's worked flawlessly.
Thank you, Deante's fix with Chris's update worked great for me on my Galaxy Nexus! The only thing that isn't working for me is MMS when LTE is enabled. It's not a big deal for me; I'm just happy that MMS works.
This fixed the problem on my SPH-L710 running SlimKat. Thanks guys!
Chris!!! You are awesome! Followed your directions closely for my LG Optimus and now I've got CM11 and 4G/LTE working. I thought I had done this procedure from the start but I must have missed a step. One thing I'd like to pass on here for those who may have the LS970/Optimus G... BEFORE wiping data and going back to your stock ROM (luckily I have a ZIP of stock ROM on my sd-card in case of situations like this) -- use the app FreeGee to BACKUP your ESN settings. Because during this process my phone lost it's ESN data (which contains your phone #, MSID, etc). I had to re-flash my ESN zip (FreeGee will make this for you) right after booting to stock ROM for the 1st time (then rebooting back into CWM recovery) and then I activated / updated PRL/profile. Then I went back to recovery -- WIPED DATA and CACHE and flashed CM11 -> Gapps -> and Ting 4.4 APN ZIP from this thread. As SOON as CM11 booted I saw the LTE symbol light up. Holy CRAP! And I've been messing with this for weeks now! I was actually going to post here for help until I saw this thread had been updated. So Chris -- I am forever grateful to you! Thanks dude!
You are my personal hero.
I was running BeanStalk 4.4 on my Galaxy S4 for a while. Over time my device was becoming unstable. I flashed to Cyanogenmod which did fix my problems but also gave me some new ones. Like breaking MMS. After 4-5 hours of "restore from backup->encrypted /data can't be wiped by non stock recovery->ODIN->stock rom/firmware/recovery->remove encryption->ODIN again-.profile and apn updates->test okay : ) ->clockworkmod->Cyanogenod->test->bangHeadOnDesk.exe. Your ziped package of ting's apns and another 15 min of flashing did exactly what I needed.
all of my internets to you good sir.
Wow nice work! This fixed me up. GS3 with slimkat, I've been working on getting this to work for hours now and it never would have occurred to me to do this without this thread.
Awesome, worked great for me... after i did a reset first :)
Thank you so much! Worked great on Galaxy S3 w/ CM11 M6 (wiped, flashed ROM, then the APNs zip.)
Does this also work for the At&t Galaxy S3 LTE? i
Thanks Deante & Chris,
Following Chris's steps, I now have cyanogenmod11 M7 working on a galaxy S3 ( SPH-L710 ) .
Anyone get this to work on CarbonRom?
I have a Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720).
Thanks! This fixed my 4G/LTE connectivity issues on CyanogenMod 11 w/ Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720 / jfltespr). TWRP helped a lot.
For those of you saying that this has worked for you with Spring Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710), did you have root/custom rom prior to all this? Or did you go from completely stock 4.3 or 4.4 Android OS to CM11? I'm having trouble getting past Knox, from what I can tell. When I flash CM, after reboot the stock ROM boots... thoughts? Thank you!
Chris - you have to root your phone. Once I rooted it, I had to disable knox.
Writing to report success for SPH-L710.
I began with a stock BYOD spring Samsung galaxy S3 running Android 4.4.2.
1.) I managed to root the phone and put a stock rom back on.
2.) disabled Knox using the SuperSU app
3.) installed Philz Touch Recovery.
4.) downloaded CM11 nightly, gapps, and the TingAPN file (above)
5.) flashed those files.
NOTE: The first time I flashed the files I forgot to transfer the Ting APN file over to my phone. I booted the phone after CM11 was installed and went through setup--I had no LTE. I then transferred the Ting APN file to the phone and re-flashed everything (CM, GAPPS, and TingAPN) then I rebooted. LTE now works.
Thanks everyone!
This method (and the APN zip file) doesn't work for my Galaxy Note 2. I get the LTE emblem on the status bar but I get no data to come through. :(
The method also works to get 4G with FreedomPop! Thank you, Deante Flood!
I mean, the method works with FreedomPop, but you still have to make your own modified Ting Apn fix zip file.
Stopped working for me, too. I've re-done the procedure a million times. Even switched to Pacman Kitkat ROM. Same as mentioned above. With LTE enabled, it says I'm on LTE but I get NO data. All apps tell me "no Internet connection." As soon as I switch to 3G, then I get data. This is so frustrating. I wish LG/Sprint would just offer a native KitKat rom for my phone (LG LS970) but I don't see that happening. I may have no choice but to go back to the stock JellyBean ROM. At least then I'll get true 4G/LTE.
Kevin - still works for my s3. What is happening to you is exactly what was happening to my samsung when I didn't get the APN correctly flashed. Try going back to stock rom and then redoing the whole procedure. You may have to disable some security settings, which will require the phone to be rooted.
Great thread. I rooted using towelroot (google it) and then downloaded supersu, and finally installed clockworkmod recovery.
when I run supersu and it asks if it should disable knox, I say yes, and it says it's disabling, but it never finishes (I've waited at least 5 minutes).
any suggestions ?
Try uninstalling knox manually.
OK, so there are a couple of things I figured out here (I'm not always so quick).
- from the home screen, I go to menu -> settings -> more -> application manager
- then swipe right to the "all" column.
- I found and stopped (removing wasn't an option) anything called Knox in part or in total
- THEN I started superSU, it asked me if I wanted to remove, and it did immediately.
Now it looks like I have 1 less thing in the "all" column called "Knox"
.
Time will tell if things are all better now, especially after the next reboot. I'll do my best to report back.
perhaps the end of the story:
- red X next to the signal meter.
- Service state out of service
- MIN, MEID, IMEI unknown.
it it had a SIM I'd be expecting it had gone bad. since it doesnt... I'm not sure what to think.
I messed around w/ Knox files and that happened to me too. I took the opportunity to flash a new ROM (CM11) with no Knox programs. But of course had to deal with LTE connection issues. And Deante's method didn't work, as well as numerous others.
The following post led me the way to a LTE connected phone with a ROM of choice.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53634684&postcou...
Alright I tried it. I get the lte symbol come up but I only have one bar and no data seems to be transmitted. It doesn't appear to automatically want to switch to 3g either. I'm hoping when I go to work tonight it works better there. I usually get quite good lte coverage in my area but it is quite overcast out. Could that have anything to do with it?
Also will you need to do a factory reset with each nightly or update? If so I might just end up going back to stock on my s3.
@Shawn - While your experience may be different, I've been applying this zip right after the updates (that is to say, saving off the CM update files and then applying them with the zip instead of using the cmupdater).
@Deante #1:
I followed your method with the exception of restoring to stock 4.3 first. Is there a reason this is necessary?
I'm still not getting LTE (I've never seen LTE on my toroplus running either CM10.2 or CM11). I also get a persistent error message "No APN specified for this device"
Kevin/Peter/Shawn, No data is the reason why I went back to stock 4.1.2. No regrets... And if you are like me (LG Optimus G), no worries as LG is making Kitkat (4.4.2) available in August based on the news on July 4th.
http://tech.firstpost.com/news-analysis/lgs-rolling-out-android-kit...
@Jaishankar I don't want to be forced to use touchwiz just for lte. 3g works fine. It would be nice if lte worked but, i refuse to use touchwiz when cm11 is so much better in my opinion. Also I tried to revert to stock using a nandroid backup but, it didn't work properly for whatever reason. Maybe going backwards in term of android version numbers could be the problem? Anyway if I do decide to go back to stock eventually can anyone point me to a reputable site with instructions on how to do so?
@shawn..try http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-return-sprint-lg-optimus-g-back-to-...
@Jaishankar I'm on a galaxy s3 not an lg phone.
I also have a galaxy s 3.
And for going back to stock, xda is a good resource.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2738533
For LGOG users -- going back to 4.1.2 stock is the best option. I actually found a "modded" stock rom known as OptimusDE. Search for it on XDA forums and you'll find the links. It comes pre-rooted and *everything* works. Flash it with TWRP. The battery life is incredible, too. AND -- maps/GPS works on it whereas with any custom ROM I used (CM/.Pacman/Paranoid/whatever) -- GPS/maps never worked and the battery life was horrible. I'm willing to stick with 4.1.2 until the official KitKat release comes to this phone.
Running CM11, 20140707 snapshot.... Samsung Galaxy S4
Following the instructions in this post and LTE is now working like a charm.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53502055&postcou...
(Had to manually create the APN entry)
Thought you all might want to know.
Thanks worth a try I must have flashed and reflashed the rom and the apn here and from xda 5 times today to no avail. Will get everything setup perfectly, do a nandroid backup, and give this a go
edit that seems to have done the trick on my s3. thanks times 100
Thanks George Ellenburg, that worked like a charm! Just changed the APN. (though, I had installed the original APN 4.4 zip before I didn't have to do any of the following steps on the link)

Well I went with Paranoid Android last night and tried both the APN zip in the OP as well as one on XDA. No dice. Now I don't even have mobile data at all.
This is supremely perplexing, since the phone is displaying that it's got a connection, but no apps are able to access the mobile network.
As a reminder, I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so info about LG or Sx phones is not relevant.
Peter, I use PACman (Paranoid Android and Cynagenmod merged together) on Samsung S4 L720. I did a clean install and that was apparently how I had lost the proper APN. With the APN zip file installed, I was only getting sporadic minimal 3G service. With George's Ellenburg's link on XDA make sure you type in the proper APN: n.t8.ispsn properly. I mispelled it the first time around and no dice. Make sure you also have that LTE setting selected. The other thing to also do is to call customer care and have them reset the data connection.
Good luck.
Something I did made a difference - but I wish I knew what!! This morning on my dog walk I was seeing a 4g icon - first time since I bought this phone in January. I tried to bring up an internet app (reddit is fun), but it couldn't connect to the server. Likewise an online game app couldn't connect. But it appears that the browser did, but then I noticed it was back on 3g. Hmmm.
I get to work in Manhattan and I check the phone before heading to my cellar workshop. 4g icon again. I open the APN settings using the google gesture search method, and scroll down to the APN2 LTE Internet one. I notice that the "bearer" field is set to Unspecified. I recalled that yesterday one of the Ting APN threads on xda linked a config file that showed that field should read "LTE". I switched it, saved the APN, toggled mobile data off, then back on, and I got a 4G connection!
So that's another thing to try.
A word of advice to anyone manually setting field parameters - don't do what I did and just start changing things without making some sort of record of the starting state. I very well might have changed something inadvertently that compounded my problems. Needless to say I'm making a backup right now.
Hello, it is not clear for me what issue this solves, could you help with that? I got here because I'm using CM and one I keep getting a system message that there is APN configured in my device when there is one and is correct. Thanks.
help i have a galaxy s4 it keeps rebooting and says no sim card
Hi Shelley,
I see that you have submitted a help request, I will be responding to it shortly. Keep an eye out for an email!
I've been going crazy trying to get MMS working over 3G / LTE on my LG Optimus G for the past two days. I'm running Cyanogenmod 11. Works perfectly after flashing this zip. THANKS!
this method works with some ROMs, and not others. the only sure-fire way to correct this issue is to APN configuration file from your stock ROM and directly inject it directly into your desired ROM. that method has worked for me 100% of the time. the APN conf file is in /system/etc. just unzip the new ROM somewhere, put the stock conf file in place of the existing one, and rezip the ROM. install as normal.
i hope this helps someone. flashing this zip alone didn't cut it for me. though it was helpful.
Worked great on my galaxy nexus w/ cyanogenmod 11. Saved me a bunch of time.
Worked on my Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710) with a nightly Carbon Rom 4.4.4 release. Thanks!
@Carl - make sure the mms address reads:
http://mms.plspictures.com
Sprint's default address is mms.sprintpcs.com - that won't work.
New Question:
I decided to manually enter the APNs, spent about 30 minutes at it only to discover that the APNs weren't saving. Very odd. tried some more, but the ones I wrote from scratch simply weren't turning up, even after I rebooted. I used the google Gesture Search "APN" method to access the edit APN screen.
So navigated to the XML file, copied to a document, uploaded it to my google drive so I could edit the file with a real keyboard and IDE, and save a ton of time.
Turns out the file is 1639 lines long and not one instance of the word "sprint" or "ting". WTF??
A quick note on MMS, according to Ting either link will work: https://help.ting.com/entries/26292478-Updating-Your-Picture-Messag...
Carl, many phones require a data connection even when on WiFi for MMS to work. If you have data disabled it likely won't work. I know from experience that my Nexus 5 using Hangouts will not send an MMS on WiFi only. I have used Textra to do this and it works well.
Hm. Whether part of s3's native software or Cyanogenmod, the phone doesn't connect to the mobile data network while wifi is on, Connection optimizer or something, which is what I want, 'cuz some of these apps are greedy. So I doubt that having mobile data on while on wifi would do anything, but it's worth a shot.
I'd tried all of the above on my SPH-L710 without success (although my process wasn't necessarily consistent with each attempt, I'm a novice at this stuff) and was ready to punt until I came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53634684&postcou...
I used Deante's method, just edited the xml file in his Ting zip file (open zip with 7-zip, navigate to/edit apnd-conf.xml, clear existing text and paste in the text in the attachment in the link above). So it was:
- Factory reset
- Clear Dalvik cache
- Flash CM11, GApps, modified Ting zip
- Reboot
I installed the Gesture Search app from the play store, searching on APN shows 4 entries configured, they are APN0 EHRPD ota, APN0 LTE ota, APN2 EHRPD internet and APN2 LTE internet. If you want to try manually entering APNs you might want to search the file in the attached.
I've attached the zip file I used, apply at your own risk.
David -- I appreciate the effort but this still won't fix the other issues I had with the CM11 or various KitKat custom ROMs I've tried on my LS-970 (LG Optimus G). Regardless of if I got LTE working -- the GPS *never* worked. Google maps or Scout or any GPS app - would never be able to get a GPS signal. Also, in general any custom KitKat rom was highly unstable for me. Battery life was a joke. The last ROM I tried before I gave up and went back to JellyBean stock was PacMan. With that running I'd be lucky if my battery lasted 3 hours. I'm not exaggerating. I'm sure there are other tweaks to the kernel and settings I could to and apply more recovery tweaks and editing conf files... But to me -- it's just not worth the time and hassle. JellyBean is running fine for me. I have it rooted. That's all I need. If LG/Sprint ever get around to making a stock KitKat ROM that was designed to work for this phone... I'll do it. Otherwise -- just not worth the trouble for a phone that's going on 3 years old.
Question, I've been trying get a good LTE and 3G signal in the Washington DC area. Unfortunately, the Ting APN.Zip install doesn't seem to work on Android 4.4.4 (PacMan nightly builds). So I configured the LTE APN setting as described. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work on 3G and in certain areas in DC I only get 3G service and cannot send MMS. I reset the APN's to default. The default settings don't seem to be the same as what was originally set up As it only four Sprint settings and two which OTA. The Sprint settings are all the same with no APN type. The OTA ones are with OTASN as the APN type, without any MMS proxy or port or MMSC. The question is should I go add all of the ones from TING APN 4.4 Zip or just have the one for LTE (APN: n.t8.ispn)?
Hm, I don't know why it wouldn't work on the Pac ROM. I'm using it on Cyanogenmod 4.4.4 (M9 d2lte snapshot) and I can use it in 3G or LTE areas all over Michigan (as far as I've taken it since updating to 4.4.4). Since you're obviously experienced with flashing, could you try making a nandroid backup, flashing Cyanogenmod and the APN zip, then seeing if that works? Not a perfect solution, but at least it gives a clue. You are remembering to flash the APN zip right away after flashing the ROM? When I installed 4.4.4, I did a cache wipe, flashed the ROM zip, the GAPPS zip, the APN zip, and only then rebooted.
Carl, I'll try flashing PAC again, then flashing the APN ZIP. I've only been trying to flash the APN Zip and that wasn't taking. I even made my own APN Zip with the Ting info and will try that as well. Maybe I have to flash the ROM again. Or I may try Cyanogenmod ROM. I'll let you know.. Don't know if I want to fool around too much as I don't have too much time, though with a new job coming up, I may be going to Verizon because they have better coverage and my company should be picking up the tab.
Ok, looks like Cyanogenmod 4.4.2 (11020130217-Nightly-JFLTESPR) burns in the original Sprint APN's. I tried to burn the APN.ZIP file which I included the LTE information but that didn't take. I had to manually configure it. Now MMS over 3G works as well. Now to burn PACman rom.
Specifically, which apn fix is working for you guys. I got LTE working on CM 11 back in June or July but I just tried to update to the newest CM 11 M10 and lost it. I wiped and reinstalled, flashing,
CM + Gapps + Ting_APNs_Android_4.4 (02-28-14).zip and it doesn't work
CM + Gapps + Ting_APNs_fix2.zip and it doesn't work
CM + Gapps + octhrope ting apns 4.4!.zip and it doesn't work (xda developers)
CM + Gapps + Ting_APN_4.3.zip and it doesn't work (xda developers)
HF, How did you get everything working in PACman rom, I did you manually configure it to get LTE to work?
What other steps am I missing if any? Do you guys flash back to ND8 update prl and then boot into recovery and install your rom?
I installed Cyanogenmod 4.4.2 (11020130217-Nightly-JFLTESPR) burns in the original Sprint APN's.
Then I manually added LTE as an APN by following the below instructions. Make sure you type everything in properly.
Download & install the Google Gesture Search app from the Play Store. Open it, say yes to the defaults and wait the 20 seconds it takes to index your system. Once all of that is done, use your finger to draw "A", "P", "N" on the screen. This will bring up a list of search results. Choose APNs settings. If there is a list of APN's already there, one of them says something about LTE internet. You can modify the existing values to match those shown below. Otherwise, in the APNs screen, hit the plus to add a new APN. Give it the following values:
Name: LTE
APN: n.t8.ispsn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.plspictures.com
MMS proxy: 68.28.31.7
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default, mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: None
Save the APN. Touch the radio button to the right of the APN to select it. Hit the home button. Cycle airplane mode. You should be able to connect now. I think this alone will get your LTE working, but...
Either that or burn the original sprint Android OS ROM for your phone and you should get the original Sprint APN's. Then add the LTE APN manually.
Carl, MMS doesn't work over Wifi only over the mobile network.
Emily, you are right, dirty flashing causes all sorts of issues which are bothersome. I do it, however when things go awry, I then will do a clean flash and things seem to work better, though the APN issue was frustrating as the APN may not have been overwritten in the flash or vice versa overwritten but didn't include the Ting APN.
You're not supposed to need to do a wipe between different milestones, but we all know that's not always reliable. Between Google's own app restore and titanium backup it's not too painful though.
I have a GS4 with cm11. Using the apn zip works, but after about a month I end up not being able to connect to mobile data or receive text. When I connect to wifi, I end up getting multiple copies of each incoming text. Does anyone know why this is? It's really frustrating to have to reset the damn phone every 4-5 weeks. Im about to go back to the stock firmware if I can't get around this, its really a pain.
any suggestions?
The apn no longer seems to work with Cyanogenmod 11 m11. Anyone else having this issue?
Christian, this method of installing the APN.zip hasn't worked for over a couple of months now. The only way I could make it work was to go to an older version of CM. (m9 d2spr) perform a clean wipe, manually add the LTE APN with Google Gesture Search and then upgrade to CM 11 through the updates feature. I'm currently on CM11 20141007 nightly and will be upgrading to 20141009 in a few minutes.
Did it work for you? Tried to put the apn in cm11 (at work, don't have time to reflash to older version atm) by hand. Problem is the apns wont save. Will have to do a full wipe later. FYI, you don't need to use the gestures app to access apn settings. Its under settings, mobile networks, access point names.
Looks like this may be a modem issue: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/100596-no-service-data-with-m11/. Can't find anyupdates for the sph-l710 though :(
Also, the APN.zip worked flawlessly on a fresh install of m10.
Not sure if this will work for everyone, but after trying every fix under the sun yesterday trying to get LTE to work on my new HTC M8 I decided to update to the M11 release of CM11.
After the update I went to Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names and it had APNs for basically every carrier, Ting included. I checked the radio button for Ting and both LTE and MMS work flawlessly. Not sure if this is new in M11, or if I just assumed M10 wouldn't work and started flashing zips, but it looks like this might not be necessary anymore. Yay! Hopefully this applies to all phones, but that seems a little too good to be true.
