This guide will walk you through the RingPlus migration and any other questions you might have about the process.
Q: When will the migration begin?
A: We are working with Sprint and RingPlus to make sure everything happens as early as possible, and we don’t have a confirmed date yet. We expect it all to happen before service terminates with RingPlus and will do everything we can to ensure your service is not interrupted. We will update ringtoting.com with all updated dates as soon as we know more!
Q: How will I know when my account has been moved to Ting?
A: Once migration has begun, we will be sending you an email welcoming you to Ting. It will provide you with 3 options.
- Create an account with us, provide your billing details, and receive your credit.
- Sign into an existing account and receive your credit.
- Port out your number to another provider. Of course we don’t want that to happen, but if you chose to do so all relevant information you will need will be readily available for you.
Q: What are you offering to people coming from RingPlus?
A: We're offering $35 in Ting credit to get started or the value of all your top-ups, whichever is greater. $35 will be credited to every RingPlus member that opens a Ting account. Any credit balance over $35 will be issued at a rate of $5 per month until exhausted.
Q: Should I create a Ting account now?
A: No need to do that. Please just sit tight and await our email.
Q: Can I still use my phone?
A: Your service should remain active with your RingPlus plan leading up to the migration. Once the migration has happened, we'll make sure you can get in touch with us if you need to but you'll have to either complete sign-up with Ting or move your number elsewhere to use your phone.
Q: Can I use my RingPlus phone on Ting?
A: Absolutely. If your phone uses a SIM card, there's no need to replace that either.
Q: I have several numbers under one RingPlus account. Will each one receive a $35 credit?
A: No. The $35 base credit is being offered on a per-account basis. It is not being offered based on the number of phone numbers on an account.
Q: How will the credit you're offering work on Ting?
A: Your account will be moved over to Ting and you'll receive the greater of $35 or the value of whatever RingPlus top-ups remained on your account when they closed up shop. $35 will be immediately credited to your new Ting account. The remainder of your balance, if applicable, will be applied as $5 credits at a rate of one per month, starting once the initial $35 credit has been exhausted.
Q: I ported out from RingPlus but this deal sounds pretty good. Can I still get in on it?
A: Sure. Just use the RingPlus landing page and you can claim $35 credit.
Q: I was on the RingPlus Mondo Super Cupcake Ribeye BBQ Free Everything Forever Plan. Will you honor that?
A: We don't like saying no. But no. If you choose to stay with Ting, you'll pay Ting rates. No plans are being "grandfathered" and we're not adopting any elements of the RingPlus model. Not to put too fine a point on it but if it was a sustainable model, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Q: My RingPlus account is suspended or has a negative balance. What does that mean for me?
A: RingPlus might have something to say about that but at this stage, we don't. Your number will be moved and if you sign up, you'll receive your $35 Ting credit.
Q: Can I combine this promo with another or refer other RingPlus refugees to stack credits?
A: No. Only one credit can be applied when opening an account on Ting. The $35 we're offering RingPlus refugees is already more generous than we'd typically offer.
Q: I don't want to use Ting. What do I do?
A: The best thing to do is wait. RingPlus can't handle the volume of port-out requests it's receiving. When your phone number is on Ting, our automated porting system will yield much faster and more reliable results. Plus we'll make it nice and easy to get all of the information that you need to make sure your port goes smoothly.
