The instructions below are for the following devices:

  • Motorola Moto G4
  • Motorola Moto G4 Plus
  • Motorola Moto G4 Play
  • Motorola Moto G5
  • Motorola Moto G5 Plus

Some important facts about the Motorola G4 and G5:

  • They are multi-network devices, this means they are compatible with either our CDMA network or our GSM network.
  • The CDMA Sim card for this phone would be the Ting Z1 CDMA SIM card
  • The GSM Sim card for this phone would be the Ting X1 GSM SIM
  • Please note our version of the Motorola G5 Plus only takes one sim card at a time.
  • Follow these steps to ensure your SIM is inserted correctly into your Motorola G4.

Completing Activation on the CDMA Network

The first thing you need to ensure is that 3G/LTE, voice, and text messaging are working. To do this, a Carrier reset and Profile and PRL update are required.

Please follow the steps below:

Carrier Wipe

  • Disable Wi-Fi and enable LTE
  • Open the dialer
  • Dial * # * # 72786 #* #*
  • Tap OK
  • The device will power down and then restart
  • Once the device is fully on it will complete the activation hands-free
  • This may take a minute or two
  • The device will then do the Profile & PRL update and restart again
  • Once the device is back on the activation is complete

If your device does not restart after the PRL update, restart it. Voice, text, 3G and LTE data should now be working. If you want to use picture messaging make sure to log in to your Ting account online and check the option "Can send/receive picture, video and group messages."

If you have to do a Profile or PRL update manually here are the steps:

  • From the home screen, use two fingers to swipe down the Status bar.
  • Tap the Settings icon. ...
  • Tap More.
  • Tap Cellular networks.
  • Tap Carrier settings.
  • Tap Update Profile or PRL
  • The device will search for an update. ...
  • The  Profile or PRL is now updated.
  • Repeat the above steps to do each individually

Completing Activation on the GSM Network

First, you need to insert the activated sim card into your device with the device powered off.

Once the sim card is inserted then power the phone on. The device will then register on the network

Try to make a test call to 1-855-865-5971. If the device is active you will hear a recording indicating this.

Now we need to test to see if your data is working.
