If you run into any errors after activating your Ting V1 SIM, check out these handy tips to help you get started.
Make sure your phone is unlocked
- If you get an error displaying "network lock," "unsupported SIM," or if your device asks for a “network unlock PIN,” your device may be locked to your original mobile carrier.
- You will need to contact the carrier and ask them to unlock the device for you to use with another carrier.
- Some carriers have restrictions on when they will unlock a device, so be sure to check your carrier's website for more information.
Check your APN settings
If you are using an Android device, be sure to check your APN settings. Instructions for how to update your APN Settings can be found here.
If you are activating an iPhone, you may need to update your carrier settings.
- Connect to Wi-Fi > Settings > General > About > Follow the directions on the screen
Reset your network settings.
Resetting your network settings will remove all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth passwords.
Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth > Reset settings
Confirm your software is up to date.
Settings > General > Software Update
Settings > Tap System > System update.
This step in troubleshooting your V1 activation should be saved for last. Factory Reset will erase all of the contents of the phone aside from the software that came with the phone, including personal data like pictures, contacts, and text messages. It is very important that you back up your phone before proceeding to complete a Factory Reset on the device.
Please refer to your phone manufacturer's website for the Factory Reset instructions for your specific device.
