Andrew Costen June 07, 2013 21:06 We don't have any information on when, or even if, we'll be able to bring the S4 over from Sprint to Ting. For the time being Sprint isn't allowing it due to settings that are hard-coded into the Sprint phones that make their version less compatible with Ting than they or we would like, and while we're working with them to resolve this, there's no timeframe available (or even a guarantee that it will change, although we're hopeful). Danny Amborn June 08, 2013 11:38 Does that include new phones purchased on your site? I am a new Ting user and just purchased them yesterday Andrew Costen June 08, 2013 14:40 Not at all. The phones purchased from our site are programmed for Ting and should work just fine. David Lazarus June 14, 2013 01:53 Andrew, can you elaborate on the technical specifics? (What hard-coded settings? What are they set to? What should they be?) Andrew Costen June 14, 2013 16:59 I don't have those details at the moment, David. Nancy Kalish June 17, 2013 14:42 When is the Galaxy Note 3 likely to launch, and do you think you will be able to get it within the year, or am I better off just getting a Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy SIV from your site? Also, I am a complete smartphone newbie? Other than bugging my friends repeatedly, how do you recommend I learn how to use an Android smartphone? Brennan V June 17, 2013 19:20 Hi Nancy, those are great questions. We don't have anything concrete to pass along to you regarding the Samsung Note 3, but all news-worthy device updates will be released on our blog. Please feel free to follow us there -> https://ting.com/blog/ The Android operating system can be your best friend, but as a newbie it will take practice. Of course, the real learning occurs once you have the phone in your hand. You can use our forums to gain an understanding of the different things the Android O/S can do -> https://ting.com/why-ting/we-speak-android/ As always, if you have a specific question, the Ting Team is here to help! Nancy Kalish June 17, 2013 19:46 Hi Brennan, Thanks for your reply and the tips on how to find useful information on your site. Nancy Eduardo Arriaga June 17, 2013 21:57 So if we were to buy the galaxy s4 from ting and not a sprint store then I can have it activated? I guess I don't understand. Brennan V June 18, 2013 01:15 Hi Eduardo, that is correct, at the current moment, we can only activate Galaxy S4's which are purchased through Ting. Eduardo Arriaga June 18, 2013 02:28 Well Damn now I have to sell the one I have to purchase it through you guys. Peter Quinto June 18, 2013 02:54 Yeah that kinda sucks about Ting. I bought a (Sprint) Galaxy S4 with a clean ESN and now I can't use it even though I thought I could. So now i'm stuck with a Sprint Galaxy S4 that I have to sell in order to get money for a brand new Ting phone. It's just inconvenient, and sucks. Eduardo Arriaga June 18, 2013 03:01 Ya its going to but everyone wants one so it shouldn't be too bad. Elizabeth Valencia June 18, 2013 18:32 Hi I'm new to this too, I want the HTC one. So if I buy a sprint branded one I can't bring it to ting yet but I can buy the ting HTC one? I really don't want to wait for it to come back in stock Andrew Costen June 18, 2013 18:48 That is correct, Elizabeth. If you place an order now you'll be placed in line to get one as soon as we get them back in stock, so I'd suggest placing the order now rather than when they come back in stock if you really do want one with Ting.
