Brennan V Delete Edit October 30, 2013 13:10 Hey everyone, we haven't made an official announcement yet because we are still in beta testing. However, if you have a qualifying device, you can bring it over to Ting and enjoy our service. Here's our whitelist. If you need any help, please feel free to reach out to us [here](%20https://help.ting.com/anonymous_requests/new). Richard Sigouin Delete Edit October 30, 2013 14:29 Yes! Jeremy Levi Delete Edit October 30, 2013 21:58 Where can the iPhone 4, or 4s be brought from...just Sprint? or...are all iPhone 4/4s eligible to be brought over? Brennan V Delete Edit October 30, 2013 22:38 Hey Jeremy, we can only activate qualifying devices from Sprint. For a detailed list, please refer to our whitelist. Timm Hackett Delete Edit October 30, 2013 23:07 Will beta testers get an email or text when the process of activation is complete. I was able to activate this afternoon; however, I still cannot make calls or access data. Thanks for allowing iPhone users to bring their devices over to Ting. Jeremy Levi Delete Edit October 30, 2013 23:19 Thanks Brenna, what does Beta mean? Jeremy Levi Delete Edit October 30, 2013 23:20 Sorry. Brennan Keith Fischer Delete Edit October 30, 2013 23:36 I have an iPhone 4S 64 gb. Seems that it's MEID isn't on your servers yet. I verified Sprint 4S model A1387 Vince Valenti Delete Edit October 31, 2013 02:23 Jeremy, Beta means it's in a "testing" phase to make sure they get all the bugs worked out. Rehan Khamaruddin Delete Edit October 31, 2013 05:14 I put in my MEID and got an email from Ting that I can make the move. However, when I got to add the device and put in the same MEID I get an error with "Bad news blah blah". What gives? Is there some special way to bring in the device? Brennan V Delete Edit October 31, 2013 12:22 Hi Rehan, I see your help request. Thanks for providing your info. We'll be in touch soon. Keith, lookout for an email from us shortly. We're working out the kinks but we'll make sure we take care of you. Adam Thiede Delete Edit October 31, 2013 12:40 Is a SIM card necessary for the iPhones? In the 4S, at least, there is a SIM card slot. Brennan V Delete Edit October 31, 2013 15:35 The SIM card isn't necessary to activate the device. Rickey Brown Delete Edit October 31, 2013 21:53 Yay! I got it working. Here's what I did for those having any issues. It didn't work initially after activating on Ting's website and restarting. I de-activated it on the website, re-activated it again and restarted the phone. Still no luck. Finally, after the third restart of my phone, the no service message at the top of the phone screen went away and it started searching before then activating. It may possibly be that I'm in a low coverage area. Make sure you verify a good signal and keep trying. Leyton Schiebel Delete Edit November 01, 2013 00:09 Just got the email to start up service with Ting for my iPhone 4! It's not working. I restarted my phone and it was still attached to Sprint. So then I backed up all my stuff on iCloud and Factory Reset it. Still connected to Sprint! I did not formally disconnect my Sprint service yet my calls and texts cannot be completed because my Network is unavailable.. but Ting isn't showing up. Do I need to dial into Sprint and dis-connect my service with them? It seems it's already disconnected, yet showing their Network and not Tings.. What should I do??? So far I have 0 service from anywhere. Siham M Delete Edit November 01, 2013 17:01 Hey Leyton, Not good, let's see if we can get it up and running once more. We've got Marg helping you out on the support request you sent in - she should be able to take care of you from there. Erik Bettis Delete Edit November 01, 2013 18:14 I have a Sprint iPhone 5. Will this work as well as the 4/4S using the same setup? David Bonilla Delete Edit November 01, 2013 18:18 @Erik, they're only supporting the 4/4s at the moment. Erik Bettis Delete Edit November 01, 2013 18:20 Any idea on when the 5/5C/5S support is coming? How is setup different if it is running the same OS? Titus Decker Delete Edit November 01, 2013 18:45 I know TING says that it could take up to 24 hours for your phone number to port over and for your iPhone to be on TING, but I'm wondering what kind of times other customers are seeing? I've got my device registered and have done a factory reset. Still seeing Sprint. I'm not worried, just curious. Rickey Brown Delete Edit November 01, 2013 19:41 Titus, are you talking about the Sprint logo at the top of the screen? That will say Sprint even with ting service. As for times, I've ported 3 numbers to ting and each time it took from less than an hour to no more than 2 hours. Titus Decker Delete Edit November 01, 2013 20:08 Rickey, thanks for the tip. You're right, I was waiting for it to say TING. :-) Glad I wasn't holding my breath. Just checked my account, looks like I'm up and running. Thanks TING! Rickey Brown Delete Edit November 01, 2013 21:28 Glad to help! :) logen withrow Delete Edit November 02, 2013 02:11 It says my iphone is activated but it is not. i can not text or call anyone i have tried all of the above steps logen withrow Delete Edit November 02, 2013 02:14 I'm having the exact same problem as Leyton was edgar gomez Delete Edit November 02, 2013 05:27 I've made some calls and online then checked my ting account and it says 0 usage does that mean I'm still on sprint Aaron Millis Delete Edit November 02, 2013 05:36 I was unable to activate my old iPhone 4S. The number assigned and the voicemail setup without issue and was quick, but the phone would not relinquish its old sprint number (that number was moved over to ting a month or so ago). The network resets and multiple power offs and extended offs did not correct it. I ran a full backup in itunes, removed the usb cable, then used the reset instructions to wipe the device, went through the initial iphone setup (did not restore the backup yet) and the phone showed 'searching' in the upper left for about 3 minutes before it popped up a window that said it was activating. Another minute and a popup that the activation was successful followed by another tense minute before the 'searching' in the upper left was replaced with bars. A few moments later, it lit up 'Sprint' next to the bars and all my test messages from a few hours ago came in. Outbound and inbound calls started working near immediately at this point. This all appears to be the iphone just not releasing the number (I found other reports of people having this happen on the 4s when trying to move numbers all within sprint and the only fix they found was doing the full reset). ios 6.1.3 (I probably should have tried going to ios7 first to see if it acted better) Aaron Millis Delete Edit November 02, 2013 05:48 A followup to my post above. I was able to run a full restore of the iPhone 4s that I took before doing the full wipe and it did restore all my apps and data. The new ting number stayed active on the device and all appears to be well. Being able to test it out for only $6 a month with no other extra charges other than what I use is pretty awesome. 1 2 3 4 5 6 › » Please sign in to leave a comment.
