Completing Activation on the CDMA Network

The directions below will work for most CDMA Windows devices running OS8.

For steps on activating the HTC Arrive, click here.

The first thing you will need to do is ensure that 3G/LTE (if you have an LTE device), voice, and text messaging are all working properly on your device. To do this, a Carrier Wipe and Profile update are required. Please follow the steps below.

1. Carrier Wipe

  1. Open the dialer
  2. Dial # # 72786 #
  3. In the Service Tools menu, tap SCRTN
  4. Tap OK and the phone will reboot and go through Hands Free Activation

2. Profile Update

  1. From the home screen swipe left to access apps and Settings
  2. Scroll to and select Settings
  3. Tap Network profile update
  4. Tap Update profile
  5. When update is complete tap Done

Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.

If you have problems during this process, there may be some additional configuration required. Please take a look at the steps outlined here.  If you have tried all the options and are still having problems, get in touch.

Haven't been able to get this to work trying either method on my Nokia Lumia 920.

Well, my unbranded Nokia Lumia 930 had H signal for a bit, I swapped back in my AT&T sim for an hour.... Back on ting to play and can't get anything better than E. Also, visual voicemail doesn't seem to work for Wondows Phone. Overall very disappointing experience.

Weird behavior with my Lumia Icon: Cellular data doesn't work while the APN is set to wholesale. No matter how many restarts or how long I wait, as long as the APN is set to wholesale, the internet does not work. However, when I've left it as wholesale for some time, and then disable "manual internet APN" it begins to work. I can even send MMS (which i'm locked out of editing the APN for thanks to verizon's modification to the OS. "unlocked" my butt).

The internet stops working periodically--I haven't figured out what changes it but it's usually after I've been on wifi for awhile and then disconnect from wifi.

Any thoughts as to what's going on here?

    Hi Charlie,

I see that you have submitted a help request and Justen is taking care of you, you're in good hands! For anybody else viewing this thread with data trouble, try going through these steps to troubleshoot your data connection.

For me (Lumia Icon), data is fine, but MMS doesn't work. I don't have the option to set an MMS APN, only the Internet APN. While I can configure the Internet APN to "wholesale" and data still works, MMS appears to be broken either way. (Yes, I've submitted a ticket.)

    Hi Mike,

I see that Narmathan took care of you. For anybody else viewing this thread with a similar issue, please note that some devices have been modified by their original carrier to hide or disallow changes to some or all APN settings, even after the phone has been unlocked.

These devices may not be fully functional on the network of our GSM partner. Some customers choose to successfully modify the ROM of the devices to restore full functionality, but because of the risks of modifying your device, we are unable to provide assistance with rooting or alternative ROMs.

Just wanted to say that the procedure for "Add Ting Data & MMS APN Settings - Method 1" worked for my MS Lumia 950 xl to get group and picture messaging working for me. I moved from T-Mobile prepaid 3 gb plan to Ting today. I think I will be saving a LOT of money. I've been watching my data usage and I probably will only use @ 1 GB of data. Thanks for the clear directions on this. :-)
