What can I do with the Ting app?
Lots! Check your current account usage in near real time, view all devices on your account, enable features for each device, and view your current monthly statements.
How do I get the Ting app?
Downloading and installing the app is easy!
Android app: From your mobile device, simply launch the Google Play app, and search for "ting mobile". You can also find it directly using this Google Play link.
iOS app: From your mobile device, launch the iTunes app store and search for "ting mobile". You can also find it directly using this iTunes link.
How do I log in to the Ting app?
When you first access the app, you'll be asked to login which you can do with either your Ting account credentials or your Amazon login. If you're not the primary user of the account, you'll need to get those credentials from that person.
1. Will any usage from the app be counted toward my monthly bill?
That depends on whether you access the app while using data or Wi-Fi. If you use the app while you're on a data connection, then any data received by the app will be counted. However, since Wi-Fi usage is not counted toward your monthly usage, there are no additional usage charges to use the Ting app while connected to a Wi-Fi network.
2. Is the Ting app secure?
All data retrieved from the app is sent using a secured connection between the app and Ting's servers.
3. Which devices are supported?
We haven't tested with every device available, but Android phones running Gingerbread 2.3 or later and iOS devices using iOS 6.1 or later should be supported. If you have problems with your device and the app, let us know.
4. Is there a Windows version coming?
Currently there are no plans for a Ting app for Windows phones.
5. I don't have an Android or iOS device. What do I do?
There are no plans to release an app for non-smart phone devices. If you would like to check usage, or make changes to your account, you can log in at ting.com/account/login on any computer or device that supports web browsing anytime to manage your account.
6. Why is the app asking for access to my contacts?
The app uses your contacts to match phone numbers in your previous calls, with names. The app does not send your contacts to Ting, and the contact information details are not used for any other purpose.
7. Is the usage displayed by the app realtime?
Call usage is delayed by approximately 15-20 minutes. Calls made on roaming partners, or while traveling internationally could take longer to appear (in some cases, as much as 48 hours)
8. Where's the rest of my usage?
To keep mobile data usage down in the Ting app, it only presents the 20 most recent calls / text messages / data events. You can always see a full details of your usage in your Ting Dashboard.
9. Can I access device specific settings (such as change the device nickname)?
10. How do I change the frequency of the Ting app usage updates?
Tap the Menu key, choose Settings, tap Automatic Updates and select from the options presented. Choosing "Never" means you'll have to manually refresh to see new usage by tapping Menu then Refresh.
11. One of my devices is showing sideways. Is this normal?
In the Devices list, phones on your account appear vertically. Data devices appear horizontally.
12. When I choose "submit a request" I am prompted for a email address and password, is this my Ting username and password?
This is your Ting email and password, yes. For security reasons, we can't pass your email address and password across to the browser. As such, you must sign in again in order to access the Ting help and support site from the app.
13. Something isn't working right, what do I do?
If you experience any trouble while using the Ting app, please tell us. Be sure to include important details such as that type of phone you're using, Android or iOS version, and steps to reproduce the problem you're experiencing.
