Completing Activation for Your BLU Studio Device (GSM Only)

Follow these directions to complete activation for the for the:

  • BLU Studio Mini LTE
  • BLU Studio 6.0 LTE

NOTE:  Wi-Fi calling is not supported for these devices.


1. Reset APN to Default

Before beginning these directions, insert your activated Ting GSM X1 SIM card.

If you have the BLU Studio 6.0 LTE, ensure that the card is in SIM Slot 1.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap More...
  3. Mobile networks
  4. Access Point Names
  5. Tap the Menu key (left of the Home key)
  6. Tap Reset to default
  7. Tap OK


2. Add Ting Data APN Settings

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap More networks (under Connections tab, or More, Wireless & networks, Wireless Controls, Wireless Manager, Phone Information)
  3. Mobile or Cellular networks
  4. Access Point Names
  5. Add a new APN (Menu or + icon)
  6. Enter APN settings
    • Name: Ting Data
    • APN: wholesale
    • APN type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri,internet,dun
      • If there is a free form field, enter the above exactly as written without spaces
      • If your device has a series of check boxes rather than a free form field, check all the boxes that correspond with the values listed above. For example: your device has checkboxes for default, mms, supl, wap and ia. Check only default, mms and supl.
    • MMSC:
    • MCC: 310 (should already be set)
    • MNC: 260 (should already be set)
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  7. Tap the Menu icon
  8. Tap Save
  9. Select Ting Data as your APN
  10. Restart your device and wait for it to find the Ting network--this may take a minute or so
  11. Confirm that you're able to access data, send and receive picture, video and group messages


Note:  Only add this separate MMS if your device does NOT have the combined IPV4/IPV6

3. Add Ting MMS APN Settings

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap More...
  3. Mobile networks
  4. Access Point Names
  5. Tap the + icon on the top right
  6. Enter APN settings
  7. If it's not set, enter 310 for MCC
  8. If it's not set, enter 260 for MNC
  9. For APN protocol, select IPv4
  10. For APN roaming protocol, select IPv4
  11. Tap the Menu icon
  12. Tap Save
  13. Keep Ting Data selected as your APN; your phone will use the Ting MMS APN as it is required
  14. Reboot the device and wait for it to find the Ting network - this may take a minute or so
  15. Confirm that you're able to send pictures messages

    I only had check boxes for the following step:

    --APN type: In the field, enter the following exactly as written without spaces: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri,internet,dun--

    The only choices from this list were default and dun.

    For phones with check-boxes, you just need to check the options that are listed in the list. So default and dun are the ones you want to checkmark.

    FYI, this solved my issues with MMS (pic texts and replying to group messages) on my BLU R1 HD. Everything works like a charm now. The only differences from the above instructions are what Angel and Brian already pointed out... just check whatever boxes apply to your phone. Thanks!
