Group Text Messages and GSM Completed

Daniel Ward

I just switched to Ting and was wondering if/when groupe text messaging will be fully implemented. What I mean is, when I receive texts from a group the show up as individual texts. I hope this gets fixed as I use groupe texts a lot for my work.

    Hey Daniel!

You should be able to send MMS/receive them regularly if you have the correct APN settings entered in the phone. Here's a quick guide -- https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/articles/205428708-GSM-iOS-APN-Settings. The MMSC field needs to have this link entered in -- http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc. One other thing you will need to remember is that to send/receive group texts on iOS (with android members in the group) will need to be done over mobile data, so WiFi will need to be off.

Humm...I guess I'm a little confused then. I did exactly as the instructions asked. And when I received a group text from some of my coworkers theirs showed up as individual texts instead of inside the same message. This is even highlighted in the last bullet point of the MMS Messaging Support portion of that page you linked me. Are you saying if I turn WiFi off it'll work like it used to? I'm not really complaining I would just like to see this work like it always used to. Most people seem to be complaining about visual voicemail which I couldn't care less about, but I do a lot of group texts for my work.

Only in some instances will the threads show up individually. When you have WiFi disconnected they show up as normal, from past user experience.

Ok, thanks. Like I said, I'm new to Ting. Still hope in the future they can get it to work regardless of WiFi connection.

This may be a setting in your text app.  I use Textra, and it has the option to treat group texts as either individual messages or as group chat.
