nexus 5x cdma or gsm international
Answered

 Hello,

I am currently under RingPlus and I am thinking on changing into Ting. I have a Nexus 5X, which can be both GSM or CDMA and was also bought new and unlocked. My question is, what should I choose, CDMA or GSM? I also travel to Europe where it's mostly GSM. I would like to be able to buy a local GSM sim, put it in my phone and work. If I choose CDMA in Ting, will that affect the ability of my phone to accept a GSM local sim card in Europe?

Thank you

  • Hey there,

First check out our coverage map: http://ting.com/coverage to see which network can provide stronger service for you.

If you have a GSM phone, you can roam internationally, these are the surcharges https://ting.com/outside_usa , or you can use a local SIM in the country you travel to, as your device is unlocked.

If you activate with the CDMA network, we would be able to unlock your SIM slot on the phone which would also allow you to use the phone in a different country with a local SIM. https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/articles/205422098
