Anyone being charged for calls that don't appear in their phone logs?

Suddenly for this billing cycle, when I check my Ting usage I am seeing repeated calls to a 786 number that span 1 minute to 100+ minutes. I don't know anyone in Florida though. I checked my phones call logs for the date and time but it doesn't show any incoming/outgoing calls to a 786 number on my device. I even used one of those android call log export apps and it pulls everything on the device that exists. Still no 786 number in there either. Ting insists the calls came from my device, but I don't see any evidence on my end. Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks

  • Hi Paul, I can't think of a time when this has happened to with another customer personally. I wonder though if you have the full 786 numbers on your Ting account have you tried phoning one of them to see who was on the other line? It might help to give insight as to what is going on.

  • I actually did call that number from my Google phone and it goes nowhere. The line immediately disconnects. Someone from Ting assured me the calls were made from my device, but that's impossible because every time I call that number it immediately disconnects. I call my dad and lots of other people from my Google phone all the time without any problems. I really need someone at Ting to do something instead of just giving me lip service. I sent them the complete phone logs from my device.

  • Hi Paul, if the line disconnects right away then it is very strange that you are showing long periods of talk time on your call log in our Ting My Account control panel. One of our customer advisors are going to need to look into this further and we will need to do an investigation with our network partner. You will need to give us a call at 1-855-846-4389 (Monday to Friday 8 am to 1 am ET and on the weekends 8 am to 11 pm ET) so that we can start to look into this situation. The support team will be able to help you out.

  • I have 10 sms messages this month in my Ting usage, but NOT on my call log.  I have one phone call similar to yours; in ting usage, but not the phone's call log.  WEIRD.  I have an open help ticket

  • Mystery solved on my end. I've been using Google Voice to make calls and texts over wifi, or so I thought. It was still using my phone service, but it was calling some relay numbers or something. I've since figured out how to avoid that. Totally not Ting's fault at all.
