"this SIM is not compatible with Ting" but card came from Ting?

I am trying to set up a new Ting account for my father-in-law.  When I try to activate the Ting card I bought him (from the Ting website), it tells me that the SIM is not compatible with Ting?  I have never had this problem before.  This is just me trying to activate the SIM on the website. Is the Ting SIM card somehow linked to my  account only?

The phone worked just fine with hubby's sim card so should be no problems there.

Thanks for any help,

Jenny

  • Hey Mickey, thanks for reaching out. It's hard to pinpoint the exact reason you're getting that error but it may have something to do with the Ting website. If you get in touch with support we'll be able to take a closer look for you and try to complete the activation on our end.

  • On CDMA phones, SIM cards are specific to that model. So the SIM card in your Nexus 6 will NOT work in your PIxel 3 XL.

For the Pixel 3 XL, you'll need the Ting C10 SIM. If you'd like to try and track it down locally instead of grabbing one from our shop, some Best Buy and Sprint stores sell it as the SIM with part number SIMOLW516TQ.

I'd like to follow up on trying to get one secured for you at no cost, if possible. Could you email us at help@ting.com and drop a link back to this post? Hopefully I can grab it and see if we can secure a C10 for you at no cost, or I can see if another agent can make that happen for you.
