Moto G5+ repeatedly losing Wi-Fi calling & VoLTE

I'm repeatedly losing both Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE on my G5 Plus that I purchased from Ting. Every two days or so they both stop working. The only way I've found to get them to work again is to reboot the phone. Another two days pass and it stops working again.

When the problem happens, I confirm that Wi-Fi calling is still enabled on my account and that Wi-Fi calling is still enabled in Network Settings on the phone and set to Wi-Fi Preferred. Toggling Wi-Fi calling on and off on the phone doesn't help. The only fix is a reboot.

Because rebooting the phone fixes the problem I'm skeptical that the problem is on the Ting end. Nonetheless, I opened a support case with Ting. They also feel that the problem in on the device end.

I opened a support case with Motorola. They are recommending that I send the phone in for a warranty exchange. Before I do, I thought I'd reach out to the Ting community to see if any one else is having problems with flakey Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE on a G5+.

If you have a G5+ could you share your experiences with Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE?

    Hopefully the community has some ideas for you. I see you're working with an advisor here so I'll leave the troubleshooting to him.     Thanks for the tip about reddit. I did a full device reset/restore yesterday so everything is working fine now (as usual). If the problem comes back again after a couple of days I'll give reddit a go.

    Bad news... I lost Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE about 30 minutes ago. :( It worked for only a day this time. I'll update my support ticket. I also posted a couple of other questions over there this morning as well.

  • Oh no :( I'm glad you emailed again. The advisor you're working with is back in tomorrow. I'm going to do some research today and see if I can come up with anything and talk to him tomorrow too. If we can get to the bottom of this without replacing the phone that would be awesome. We'll exhaust all options before we get there :)

  • Closing the loop for anyone who runs across this thread in the future. Ting closed my support ticket without a resolution. They said that Ting does not support Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE on Android phones, even on devices that are certified by T-Mobile to have support.
