Text message limit per bill?

I am currently not able to send/receive text messages. Instead, I am receiving this message: unable to send message - message blocking is active. I've done a huge amount of troubleshooting to no help. However, I've noticed that I have exactly 5000 messages sent in this billing cycle (ends in 6 days).

Is there a limit to how many messages to can send? I don't see any limits set on my account or perhaps I am overlooking them.

  • Hi Josh!

Yeah, that happens with people who do a large amount of texting. Easiest way to reset it is to turn texting off, waiting 30 sec and turning it back on and it should reset itself.

Just give us a shout at 1-855-846-4389 if you're still getting that message! :)

    Thanks

  • Thanks, Ariel. When you say turn off texting, do you mean on the Ting website under device settings? Or do you mean on my actual device?

  • On the ting website under device settings. That (usually) resets the amount on our side so you start back at a 0 and (I mean, if you really want to try) get back to that 5000 😂

Let me know if that works

  • It didn't :\

I actually had to contact customer service for them to reset the count. I was told this will always happen to prevent a large bill. I will just have to keep an eye out in the future.

  • Oh! :( Well if you haven't done it yet, you can set a usage alert for about 4800 texts so when you reach that amount it can sent you a reminder to just give us a shout :)

  • My wife's phone started giving her this message last night. She has only used 771 messages. Why has it shut her ability to text off? I tried the suggested procedure here and it didn't work. HELP!

  • Hey Jeremiah,

It appears that you maxed out your text message last month. Normally when this happens, it stays suspended until your manually enable it or the new cycle begins, it looks like that didn't happen and we apologize for that. I see that one of colleagues had already enabled the text message feature for you.

If this occurs again, you can manually enable it :

-Login in to your Ting account

-Go to Alerts and delete the Text Message Alert

-Go to Device Settings, Select the mobile number, enable text message.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a shout.
