Going back to my old carrier

I'm sorry to go, but I have to go back to my old carrier.  Where I live in zip code 14424, I am only getting 1 bar of cell service from Ting's T-Mobile network, while my old carrier's ATT network gives me 4 bars.

  • Hey John, sorry to hear this. Before you switch though I want to ask if you have tried the CDMA network in the area yet? We offer two networks to choose from so if the GSM one isn't giving you the coverage you may be able to try the CDMA one instead. From our coverage map and with the zip code you listed it looks like we have really strong service there. We'd have to check to see if the phone you were using is capable of using the other network. If you get a hold of our customer support we can take a look for you!

  • Thanks very much for the response. I didn't realize there might be another network I could use.  I'm sorry I missed seeing that, and I wish it had been made more obvious somewhere.  Unfortunately, I just switched back, but maybe I'll try Ting again in the future.  Thank you for the reply; I have been impressed with Ting's customer service.

  • I just did a quick google search and it looks like it's not possible to use CDMA networks on unlocked iPhones, which is what I own, so maybe that wouldn't have worked for me anyway.

  • Oh no, that's too bad John. Keep it in mind if you decide to come back to Ting in the future that we have the other network. We hate to have lost you but if you ever need to help coming back just reach out to us. We would be more than happy to lend a hand setting you up on CDMA.

Have a good rest of the day and thanks for giving us a try!

  • If it is an iPhone 5s or higher it should work. What version of iPhone are you using?

  • I had been using an iPhone 4S but I just bought an iPhone SE today, so it sounds like the SE would work.

  • Hey John, just following up for Bryce! As long as that iPhone SE is unlocked it should be good to activate on our CDMA network. You can double check the MEID on our compatibility tool
