Please add a way to view data usage per line for previous months for the new plans, something similar to what the Plan Overview > Current Usage Details page shows for the current month. I currently have 4 devices on my account, and when I get a bill with higher than expected data usage, I need a way to go back and see who used more than their share.
It would also be helpful to have a summary that shows the total per device for a given billing cycle, in addition to the detailed daily usage view that the Plan Overview > Current Usage Details page provides.

Hi Scott,
This is something that we are looking at but there are no set plans on it being available at the moment. We do have a workaround where we can send a CSV file to you that can be put into an excel/Google sheet so that you can see the usage per phone. If you would like this information our customer support would be happy to email it over to you.
How do you know how much data u have left
Hi Amanda,
If your question is in reference to when you are still in your billing month then there is a usage dial that shows your data usage when you log into your Ting My Account.
Seconding this request for bringing back previous month data breakdowns so I can also see who used how much data for the multiple phones on my account.
Seconding that this is very much a needed feature. We should be able to easily see how much data is being used by each line after the bill closes. The information is tracked so nicely all month long in the app...it seems like it should be very simple to just add a “data used per line” to the monthly bill. I am excited to be a new Ting customer but with multiple kids on our plan this is a feature we very much need.
No update on when this is going to be available on the monthly invoices yet but our customer service can still send out the CSV file if you would like to see which phones are using what amount of data (or talk and text).
I am also keen to have this feature available. My data usage was logged at 600 MB for the last four days of my billing cycle last month, and I would like to know what happened. It doesn't really rise to the level where I need to bother Customer Service about it, but it would be good to have the information easily available. As other commenters have emphasized, the Dashboard is pretty great, so it is a shame that the information just vanishes from our view once the month has concluded.
Hey Daniel,
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts as well. We hear you and all of this feedback has been passed on to our team.
I second, third, fourth the motion! Glad that TING is taking this update into consideration. In the meantime, will contact support for the CSV file.
Another vote in support of this feature. By the time I see my bill, the details are no longer available.
Fifth, sixth, and seventh the motion. Not having the previous months' data available is pretty lousy service, and I guarantee you it's not cheaper to have customer service constantly fielding requests for that data than the developer time it would take to simply make the data available via the UI. (Source: Have been a web developer for 20 years and routinely deal with much larger data sets than that)
Bring back this feature ASAP! Ridiculous that Ting removed it in the first place.
Yes, I agree with this request, first time under Flex plan that received a notification that data usage has reached the point when I wanted to be notified but not having the graph or data to see what person is using the data makes it hard to track down.
Would just be a very nice feature.
This feature is still being worked on being brought back. As soon as I have any updates I'll be sure to come let everyone know here.
When will it come back?
The Ting app and website used to have extremely useful tools for monitoring usage - these have all disappeared. The current situation of bugging customer service to send you a CSV file just so you analyze your data usage is ridiculous.
I've been a long time Ting user, and I'm seriously considering leaving Ting because of this.
Hi Charles,
There's no set date that I can give on when it will be back. If it's a feature that you need from your mobile phone carrier I totally understand. We're still a no-contract provider so there are no cancellation fees if you did need to switch.
Our customer support is always there to help and are more than happy to send the CSV file every month upon request until we can bring the data usage details to the website again.
Sounds like you guys need to get your VP of Sales and Marketing on this. He agrees with me:
"We treat people like the smart, informed customers they are and give them the tools to control how they use our services. We don't believe in profiting off of confusion." - Michael Goldstein, VP, Sales and Marketing
There are currently NO tools and NO controls. Fix it.
While this is something that I think we should expect, especially since it's something that existed in the old plan structure, I will say that Ting customer service does a good job working around this. You can contact them and request a file showing your usage for the requested date range. I did this back when I originally posted this in Feb, opened the file in Excel, and found where my problem usage was. It's not perfect, but the fact that you can always get someone on the phone quickly, and that they are always extremely helpful says a lot. You're not gonna get that with many other carriers. So yeah, I'm still looking forward to this feature being added, but I just wanted to offer a little perspective. This is one, small shortcoming, for an otherwise excellent service at a great price.
Keep upvoting it and hopefully we'll get something soon...
Yeah, where is the old dashboard that was useful? I want to see what hte data usage was and checking the bill doesn't show that. I REALLY hope ting doesn't become crappy in their service as they grow.
Rather ridiculous that you can't go back and see usage details for past months without email customer support!
I just found out that call detail from previous months is not available on line. I'm pretty disappointed since I sometimes have to rely on that information for work purposes. I contacted customer service and they emailed me the month I was looking for, but when I opened the document there were no data there, only headings. The gentleman sent them again, 3 documents this time, one each for minutes, messages, and megabytes. All 3 had headings but no data. Although I really need that data, I told him not to worry about it. I asked if there was any scuttle on when the data will again be online. He didn't really know. He offered that there are new owners, and with the number of people requesting this feature, he's got to believe that they are working on it. So it kind of sound like it's not a priority for Ting. That's too bad. I'm paying for that information and I can't get it. I guess it's time to start looking around.
I've been a long time customer of Ting and have been overall pleased with their service, but some of the recent changes have started to sour my opinion. I try to log on to the site to get a gauge of data usage on the last day of my billing cycle, but have missed it. Now I see that others have requested this feature (which I remember was previously available) to be returned to us. I see several promises that "they are working on it, never fear", but the fact that this comment string started over one year ago shows me that Ting is not as customer friendly as it once was.
Is there any update on this?? This was a useful feature taken away - what does it take to get it back and why is it taking so long when customers have voiced this request for over a year?
So, we got an answer... parent company Tucow removed feature for fear of data breach/scammers. I'm still not sure why it can't be added back with a simple 2factor authentication... what an incredible hassle to go thru Ting Chat to have the information emailed to me. It took an HOUR of my time due to queue and inexperience extracting this type of info.
Second the request: historical data would be really useful, particularly when sharing the plan with the kids.
I want to add my voice to this request to please bring back this ability. I just recently changed over to the new plans and already missing the feature I used to have to be able to look at usage per device when a better insight is needed on who is using the most data.
For a workaround I have gone in and added a bunch of usage alerts to send emails to me for each device when they cross a certain amount of data usage ... I hope that will work properly so I will be able to tell that way ... we will see.
I'm adding my frustration to this. I just asked for this data from Ting Chat yesterday and they sent me a table in HTML format inline in the email, not a CSV attachment, and for the current month, not the previous month.
I would love the dashboard to come back to the way it used to, but there's an even simpler solution - include the breakdown totals by phone/device in the bill itself! Why is that difficult?
I have 4 phones on my plan. Just like the charge for each phone is detailed, the total data usage for each phone should be detailed, and then rolled up into the total data charge.
This seems to be the simplest solution to meet the need of most customers, and I have to think it's dead easy to implement. Or at least easier than (re)enhancing the interactive dashboard.
A year later, still waiting for the return of this feature.
Definitely want the CSV files to come back. Any word on an update about this?
Our customer support is always there to help and are more than happy to send the CSV file every month upon request until we can bring the data usage details to the website again.
