gsm roaming

Does the GSM side have domestic roaming.  If it does would it be similar to the coverage maps of the GSM provider?

  • Hey Gregory!

Our X3 SIM card includes domestic roaming for talk, text and now data (which is new!) that should be identical to the upstream provider, more or less.

  • Thanks for the quick response.  Do I need to do anything to enable the domestic roaming on the one GSM phone we have or is it automatic?

Also one of our lines is still on Sprint and has been locked to Sprint.  Any chance that phone could be used with a GSM sim card with the merger?

  • Domestic roaming is enabled by default on X3 SIM cards. You don't need to do anything different on the account. You might need to enable roaming on the phone's side of things, as most phones ship with roaming disabled.

If you purchased that Sprint phone from Sprint and have the original purchase receipt with the IMEI, we may be able to help you get it unlocked. X3 SIM cards will not work in Sprint-locked phones, even though the upstream network providers have merged.

If you bought the Sprint phone secondhand (Swappa, Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace), it'll unfortunately stay locked to Sprint and can't be used with the X3 SIM.
