While a native android app showing account details/monthly usage would be cool, a mobile version of the site would also be helpful. It's hard to use the ting site on my optimus

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it ironic that a mobile service provider didn't have (and take me there by default from my phone) a mobile version of their web site.

We're just getting started. While we don't have one now we will definitely have a mobile version of the site. Before that we'll have an Android app but we definitely want anyone using a mobile device to be able to access our site.

An Android app should definitely be a higher priority than a site tailored for mobile. Most modern phones have no problem rendering a standard format webpage, but an app with a widget for measured usage would be spectacular.
Android app +1... I thought it should have been a launch feature. :)

There are also problems using the site on the iPad. The menu on "Your Account" depends on hovering the mouse. I can't log out using the iPad.

We're launching a new version of the Your Account section in the next few weeks and I'm pretty sure we've got rid of hovers which will make the site a bit easier on touch screens.
Ken and Co--I downloaded and am using the free Android app from 3dgo.net called "Ting Usage (Unofficial)" and it's doing a great job of displaying usage details. I'd like to encourage Ting to reach out to them and if there can be some collaboration--it seems like they have the basics down and with Ting's expertise, could ensure it's pulling data from the website efficiently and securely as well as offer other features to promote Ting (such as a "share" button for Facebook/Twitter or a button to send a referral from a mobile ap). I have no affiliation with 3dgo.net but am a fan of Ting and the app. Please keep up the good work!

We're getting closer to our first Android App release and we'll continue to build on the apps functionality as it evolves.
I'm still a little unclear why Ting didn't just create an API to allow the community to develop their own apps. It seems to me that an API would have been a much easier task than developing a full-blown app (what's the ETA on that, by the way?), and would have allowed many in the community to work on app development while freeing Ting up to do what it does best -- provide stellar service and support. An API (or any basic web service-type approach) would have also allowed for other platforms, mobile websites, etc. to be offered with no additional time investment on Ting's part.
We're doing both an official Android app and an API.
That way people have an official app that will be supported by us but there is nothing to stop others from building sites or apps or integrating Ting data into other services.
Best of both worlds. :)
