One errant click on the settings page and you lose your number. A notice to that effect and a confirmation request seems like a good idea before going ahead and removing the phone from the account. On the plus side, turning it back on (with a new number) is easy. I'm not sure this is good for Ting, though, if it costs Ting $35 each time. Someone may try playing the number lottery until they get a result they're satisfied with.

Ting customer service graciously agreed to work on getting the old number back after I accidentally removed a device. Great customer service, but a simple software enhancement could prevent similar mistakes in the future.
There should definitely be a confirmation before we take that action on your behalf. If we haven't added that to the new Dashboard we've just released in Preview, I'll make sure we do so shortly.
Just curious if a confirmation prompt was ever implemented.
The last time I removed a device from my account I received a prompt.
