Dashboard: accounting for removed devices

Trevor Talbot

I want accounting information shown for previously active devices that are now removed. Right now removing a device completely removes it from the usage list, so you have account totals that are higher than the sum of visible devices, and no indication of where they're coming from. I'd prefer they remain in the list, but colored or marked differently to indicate they are no longer active.

There's also bad behavior with number changes and device naming that I'd like to see fixed (ref #63926).

Thanks Trevor. I've passed this along to see if we can't get it looked into.

Yeah seeing this issue too (I think).  Needed to have the phone number changed on my sole Epic Touch 4g (S2) and now my account is showing "2 devices" (and the associated $12 fee).

I'm not sure if I should submit another request, but let's try this first. I activated a BYOD and swapped a current Ting number onto it. The original phone remained in the list as an inactive device. Then, for various reasons, I swapped the phone number back to the original phone. The new phone remained in the list as an inactive device. Unfortunately, when I tried to swap the phone number again about two weeks later, the inactive phone had been removed from my list of devices. I was able, of course, to re-enter the ESN and activate it that way, but it was more of a pain than it had to be.

My request is to keep inactive devices in the list until the user manually delete them.

Hi Stefan, when devices are deactivated they'll stay listed on your account ready to be activated again unless we remove them for you. You can contact us at any time to take an inactive device from your account, or reactivate it in the Device Settings tab on Ting.com.

Thanks, Henry. If it's supposed to work that way already, then I'd like to report a bug, because the phone I deactivated (by switching back to the original phone) was removed from my list of devices and I had to re-enter it.
