SMS from ting website and or app

Most major carriers offer text messaging through your account page online.  I would like to see the same with ting and maybe an app to use especially when on wifi to send text messages.  Ting seems to be all about saving us all money.  This would fit right into that philosophy.

  • Interesting suggestion, thanks. We'll take it into consideration.

  • I too would like to be able to check text messages online via a web page in situations when my phone dies or I don't have my phone nearby. Hopefully this would be a future offer.

  • Along with https://help.ting.com/entries/36736393-Check-Voicemail-Online Ting could potentially let  me ditch GV (hate the UI, app and web).

Would pay a few bucks a month for either as a premium feature, too.

  • Tangentially related:

It would be handy to have a customers-only feature for mapping phone numbers to sms-email gateways.   Ideally this would be automatic, but just a plain manual look-up table would still be very helpful.  there probably is one out there somewhere, but it would be convenient to have it accessible from the Ting site.  If there is something out there already (I'll look for something soon) maybe just a link from Ting would do.

  • I would like to add my vote for the ability to have a Google-Voice-Like web based control panel for reading and sending text messages sent to my ting number. This would give you the ability to read/reply to SMS without using your phone. iPhones with Yosemite integration now give you this ability. Sprint numbers integrated with Google Voice have this ability as well. Additionally, there are apps like MightyText that attempt to accomplish this type of thing, but they do not work well enough when you rely on sms for accurate, timely notifications for business purposes. Ting has already saved me tons of money, so I don't care about eliminating charges. Its just a convenience/power feature in my opinion.

  • Current GSM user, unable to get service from T-Mobile where I live. I have looked at options like Google Voice, and the big sticking point is having to juggle 2 phone numbers. If Ting could offer a web option, or even expand the app to support SMS as well, it would make my life much easier.

  • We are considering signing up for Ting mobile service, but we do not want to lose our ability to send and receive text messages from our PC desktops through Verizon Messaging. Is there any chance something like this will be an available feature soon?

  • Hey J Brancaleone, there are no plans for integrating text messaging into the Ting dashboard because it's not a high priority for the majority of our users and it would take a lot of resources to integrate. As an alternative, we recommend you utilize a third party service like Google Hangouts which will allow you to make calls and text free of charge from your Ting number. You'll just need to be connected to Wifi or cellular data.
