A Usage-Only mode for the Ting mobile app (so spouse/kids can see usage without risk of major settings changes).

The Ting mobile app for iOS and Android is great. It's clean, it's easy to use, but there's one problem: it gives you total access to the account and the ability to change major settings.

It would be great if there was a way to lock the app down so you could install it on a spouse's or child's phone (somebody who wants or needs to keep track of their usage but who doesn't want or need the ability to mess up the account via accidentally tinkering in the settings menu) so they could track their usage without the risk of a key setting getting toggled or the like.

If that's not possible, a separate usage widget that just reported what the bill was and how much data/minutes/texts had been used that would be awesome too.

  • The ability to add separate logins for subaccounts would be a great way to accomplish this.

  • I would like this feature as well. (coders probably didn't have children...LOL) 1. The child has no idea how much he is using unless I send an alert... 2. it creates accountability and responsibility. 3. The fact the admin account settings are tied to the app, should probably be just removed if it is too difficult to separate the user logins.

  • I agree completely with this suggestion. My daughter gets very frustrated by not being able to track how many texts she's used.

  • ME TOO! Need to give my 14 year old son access without giving him a way to turn on his data!!! lol Funny thing is, I thought there was an admin mode/user mode when I first installed the app?

Perhaps it would be a good thing to restrict entire areas when not in admin mode. Unfortunately, they way we do it now is that my son texts me and then I check the app, then text him back. Lotsa steps could be saved by adding this functionality. Thanks Ting!

  • This is something I really need.  I want my kids to take responsibility for tracking their usage, but not be able to alter their settings.  Thank you Ting!

  • Add me to the list of people wanting this feature. The ability to have my three teenagers monitor their own usage is key.
