Why was my HTC shipped with no packing material?
Answered

I was surprised when the HTC Detail arrived with its own box inside a box many times bigger than it, without any packing material at all, not even crumpled paper, to buffer it from the inevitable shocks of cross-country ground shipment. It seems to have made it okay, but of course there can be stress damage that's not immediately apparent. Are all Ting's devices being shipped like this, or was it just a mistake made in packaging this one phone? I'd be curious to hear from other customers if they're receiving devices bouncing around loose in the shipping box.

In years of getting electronics shipped here, nothing has ever arrived loose in a box without packing material before. It need not be noodles. Crumpled kraft paper works well.

  • We recently received two devices, a Samsung Conquer and an HTC Detail.  Each arrived inside its own box which was tightly packed with bubble wrap inside a FedEx box so that it could not bounce around.

  • Maybe they just ran out of bubble wrap the day they packed mine. Still, you'd think they could have found some newspaper to crumple.

  • Hi Whit,

Seems odd... our warehouse is generally very good with packing and shipping devices. I'm glad everything is ok with your device though. Welcome to Ting!

  • Whit - I had the same experience.  Luckily the phone was unharmed, but it was surprising.  Phone was HTC Detail.
