Will there be any other basic phones?

Will there be any other basic phones other than just the Sanyo Vero? I like my current LG Env2 on Verizon with a full QWERTY keyboard.

  • My wife has had both the env2 and env3 and we would switch her immediately if there was a feature phone available with a QWERTY keyboard.

  • Hey fellas,

Nothing on the horizon, but I've passed on your feedback. It's tough finding reliable CDMA phones that customers will like.

  • We would love to buy this service for our teenager but really need a good texting phone. No smart phone for her until she can pay for it! Love the idea of the this service!

  • How about the LG Rumor Touch or its replacment, the Rumor Reflex.  The Rumor Touch has been popular on S & VM for a long time (in CellPhone years).

  • The LG Cosmos has been good to me. It's a number pad phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

  • I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum: I'm looking for a basic phone so I can ditch my father-in-law's Tracfone. I saw there's a Kyocera phone with a QWERTY layout, but if I hand him that, he'll hand it right back to me.

    Thanks!

  • I need a non-smartphone, simple make/receive calls capabaility, that I can loan to my kids on an as-needed basis. Something dead simple and cheap! When I looked a few weeks ago, there was one. Now it appears to be gone again. Any hope of a new one?

  • Could you please add a more rugged style phone like Boost's i335/i296? Those are iDEN and I haven't seen anything equivalent in CDMA but it would be very useful if you could find one.

  • I have been following the forum for a while now and am waiting for a basic phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. Currently waiting to Ting Verizon. I am so excited and will watch for any new offers for the Basic Phones.

  • Bruce, some people hate the Blackberry-style QWERTY keyboard.  Having used some bad ones -- looking at you, Blackberry Tour -- I can understand why.  I think James is looking for a slider.

  • Thanks Benjamin... Bruce, I should have said slider. I really don't care for the Brio.

  • No problem, James.

Actually, I am looking for a higher end slider. I really enjoy my Samsung Epic 4G.

I think an HTC phone would be ideal since Samsung doesn't seem to be able to put decent radios in their cell phones. My GPS has never worked properly on my Epic.

  • My wife does not want a smartphone, or a touch screen.  She only needs talk and text and likes a flip phone.  Until such a phone is available, I have to stay with my current provider.  Please consider such an addition to your choices.

  • I want to comment on this as well, my best friend is talking about switching, but she wants a basic flip phone (the $70 price tag doesn't seem to be a problem).  In the meantime, she'll stick with Virgin.  I know you had a $70 flip for a while - is that out of stock or discontinued?  Thanks!

  • Ahh, an update, just saw this - https://ting.com/blog/device-update/

The Samsung m370 looks like a winner.  Now just to wait until it arrives!

  • Is there any status on the M370 or similar flip phone? The Brio doesn't cut it for a lot of older users with poor eyes. Not to mention the many others (with good sight) who just want a basic easy to use flip and no data. Would appreciate knowing how long it is likely to be. Thanks.

  • Hi,

We are as anxious for the M370 as you are! My best guess would be that we will have some in late July / early August, hopefully sooner! As we get more / better information, we will let you know. Apologies for the delay, and thanks for your patience!

    Best regards,

    ~Scott

  • LG Cosmos customer reviews online are better than the Brio's and it would make a great feature phone.

  • The LG Cosmos was a Verizon device that has been discontinued. We are working on this part of the device lineup though, and will share any info as soon as we have it. Thanks for taking the time to write, we appreciate it!

  • Still trying to decide if the Ting plans would save us money, but definitely would love to see a basic flip or slider phone with QWERTY keyboard.  We have the LG env3 right now and it's our favorite phone we've ever had.

  • Any updates on whether Ting will soon offer a more basic phone?  A standard talk/text with QWERTY keyboard.
