Samsung Galaxy S II availability?
Answered

So the Galaxy has been showing "shipping in 2-3 weeks" for a couple weeks now. Are we waiting on a big shipment and then they'll have regular lead times, or are we looking at a continual backlog?

I'm asking because I'm looking to first buy one Galaxy, and if both my wife and I like it, order a second. But, 2-3 weeks for the first, a couple weeks to try it out, and then another 2-3 weeks would be a hard sell versus a couple HTC Details almost immediately.

  • Hi Mike,

Yeah, we had a couple of hiccups bringing in more. Forecasting inventory levels is getting easier as we gauge demand, so once we have them in stock, we should be good. I'll check in with my peeps on Monday to see if I can get you some more accurate shipping details. Thanks for your patience!

  • I'm also looking forward to the update.  I've had mine on order for about 2 1/2 weeks and I can't wait to get switched over and start using it!

  • I am also closing on the three week mark.  Tech support told me it should arrive no later than March 30th.  So hopefully it will show up in the next couple of days.

  • I just ordered mine April 1st.  Does this mean I will be waiting till the end of April?  Assume those that have already been waiting for 3 weeks come first, and they should, but I might go crazy waiting.

  • I ordered yesterday and called Ting this morning and was told that we're looking at a 3-4 week ship date. I am really hoping that I was given a worst case scenario though, a month+ is longer than I was planning on waiting.

  • Hi folks. We've been waiting a while for these extremely popular devices. Our recent check-in with our supplier indicates that we *should* have these devices in within 2 weeks. Then we can ship them to customers after that.

Sorry for the delays on this... we want to get you your devices as quickly as possible too!

  • Crossing my fingers.  We aren't prepared to activate any phones on the account until we have them all.

  • Is there somewhere in our account information that will let us know if / when the phone has shipped? Thanks!

  • I called support the other day to find out if I'll get mine by the 3 week mark and it seems the answer is no.  They have no inventory of the phone atm and it could be another week until they do. I was asked if I received an email last week which explained this, which I hadn't.  The support rep then emailed the details to me which offered $25 off each phone and no activation fee (which is no longer being charged anyways) if I was willing to wait it out.  I just have to call back after I'm billed (another annoying thing, why not just discount my pending transaction?).

TBH, this is a LOT to ask of a new prospective customer and I'm trying not to let it bother me.  If not for a english speaking human being answering the phone promptly with good personal customer service, I would have ditched this company already and demanded a refund of the phone I have received but not activated.  I orded two Galaxy S2's and one other phone for a total of $1200 and normally would not be so patient spending that sort of money on something so trivial.

  • Hi Christian,

We totally hear you. A few things:

    1) Any customer placing an order prior to March 23 was notified about their device not being shipped by the 3 week window. If you placed on or after March 23, we're hopeful (but not sure yet) that your device will ship within 2-3 weeks. It could be the rep you spoke to didn't want to make a promise they couldn't keep.

    2) We moved the $35 activation fee back to the device price. Since you purchased a device prior to this change, each device is $35 less as a result. After you activate, this will save you $70.

    3) The rep you spoke with should have applied to your account pro-actively, instead of you having to call us. I've since done that ($50, since you have two devices). Sorry about that.

We totally understand where you're coming from. We grossly underestimated the popularity of this device, and to make matters worse, we had to work through some unanticipated shipping troubles. We're still working through the logistical kinks  and we appreciate your patience on this.

If there's something else we can do in the meantime... a loaner device, or something else, please give us a call and we'll see what we can do.

  • Hi folks,

We have a batch of Samsung Galaxy SIIs arriving at our warehouse tomorrow and they'll start to ship out early next week. We have another batch coming as well, but I'm still waiting to hear about delivery dates. If you ordered a device on or before March 23, you should receive your device next week, or early next.

Apologies for the delay, we've been working hard to have these devices in stock as quickly as possible.

  • Any chance an order placed April 2 will be fulfilled with this shipment, or will I definitely be waiting for the next one?

  • Peter... that's a tough one to answer at the moment. We'll know better as soon as we hear that our devices are in transit. Sorry about that.

  • The hold on the payment transactionfor the phone expired. Is there anything I need to do to rectify this, or will it automatically sorted?

  • I figured I'd give everyone an update, my two Galaxy phones did ship and are on their way.

  • Mine has also shipped.  Though it would seem it shipped by ground.  FedEx picked it up on April 12 and is estimating it will arrive April 18.  I was hoping it would be two day are or overnight considering the circumstance ( I ordered it on March 10).  C'est la vie.

  • I am guessing that since I did not get an email that my orders will be fulfilled with the next shipment. Which is not really a surprise, so I am not disappointed. When I spoke to someone earlier this week I was told that Ting should be getting the second, larger shipment in a couple weeks.

  • I'm leaning toward the Galaxy myself. What's the ETA for orders placed at this point?

  • Hello, I, like many others, have been waiting patiently for our two phones. Since the three mark is passing this weekend, and not having received an email about a shipment, I was hoping to get some indication where Ting is with shipments.

I am glad Ting is experiencing so much success with these phones that they are having trouble keeping up with demand. I feel that this is a good indication that they are experiencing success, and feel better about making my decision to leave Big Red in favor of a company that will provide me the service I want at a reasonable price. Of course this is no consolation to my wife who is still using the original Droid, and can not wait to get her hands on the Galaxy.

Please provide any information you can about the ETA of our order.

    Thank you, Sean

  • Yes, it would be nice to see an update. I'm also at the 3 week point. It also looks like the "Ships in 2-3 weeks" label has been removed from the website. So maybe another good sign?

  • I spoke to someone yesterday who told me that they did indeed get their shipment and that we (who are approaching three weeks) should be seeing shipping notices early next week.

    Thanks!

  • This is an embarrassing question: is this the phone you're selling? (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxys2/html/feature.html) If not, can you link to the official samsung page? I can't tell, the photograph on your site looks different. I'd like to join Ting.
