Sprint branding and bloatware
Answered

When I received my phone I was a little surprised to see it was all Sprint branding. I understand how Ting uses the Sprint network but would think that you would at least have something that would say Ting on it. Of course I understand you may not have gotten to that point yet.  I currently have the Optimus but plan on upgrading after a few months with your service and would like to know if you have plans to not have all the Sprint junk on the phones by then. I hate having to root my phones and put custom ROM just so I have more room to install apps on the phone.

  • I have the optimus as well.  Removing the bloat doesnt add more useable room anyway.

I made a lot more room rooting and using link2sd to link everything that isnt a system app to the sd card. The new version can convert system apps to user apps and vice versa.

As of now, I  have 86 apps and still have 86+ MB system  storage available.

Run a different launcher like GOLauncher and you never see any of the Sprint junk.  Compared to a true SPrint phone, Ting's Optimus is stripped down it seems.  I have read about hockey and ESPN Apps that are frozen to the home screen.  ick.

  • As for current phone it is not a big deal since I use my Samsung Galaxy S with Cyanogenmod 9 (ICS) through the optimuses hotspot. Just wondering when I buy a better phone in the future with ting.

  • Ting needs to send me some sweet Ting stickers so I can place them over my stupid sprint logos. I'm currently trying to root and uninstall all of that sprint bloatware from my Conquer.
