Don't cancel your old phones. As part of the registration process, Ting will ask if you want a new number or port a number. Once the number is ported, your old company automatically cancels your account with them.
How can I keep my phone number?
I just got my phones in the mail and I'm hoping we can keep our current phone numbers. Do I cancel my current phones before or after I activate the Kyocera Brio's I got in order to ensure that we can keep our numbers? Any idea how to go about it? Thanks!

The old carrier "should" automatically cancel the account, but that often doesn't happen. Just be sure that once the numbers have been transferred and are working with Ting, that you make a call to the old carrier and discontinue the account with them.
hi - I want to cancel before the new billing cycle begins. Do I really have to wait to get the ting phone in hand or can something be done to start the process so that I can cancel the old plan?
Robert, at the very least, you'd need to know the serial number (ESN) of the Ting phone to initiate the port of a number over to Ting. Keep in mind that if you initiate a port with the correct ESN and it completes while the phone is still being delivered, you're not going to be able to receive calls until you actually get the phone.
Thx for the clarification. fyi, I called t-mobile and they will not prorate the monthly bill, but luckily, I should have my ting phone in time before the next tmo billing cycle begins!
If I'm a Sprint customer and want to transfer my active Sprint phone to Ting, it won't work automatically, right? I can't keep my number and transfer it to Ting.
Call or email Ting support for help. I believe they have a method, but I am not sure if you can do it all yourself.
