How do I add a phone to an existing account

I signed up recently and got one phone on the account. I'm considering adding another phone, but I'm not sure how it works when adding to an existing account.  Do I need to wait for the start of a new month on the account to activate the new phone? I haven't been able to find any information on here about this scenario.

  • Hi Jack,

    You can add devices to your account anytime you want. Just log-in to your account and place your order.

    When your device arrives be log in to your account and you should see it waiting in your list of devices ready to activate. We adjust everything for the first month so that everything lines up on your bill so you don't have to worry about where you are in your billing cycle when you order or activate follow-on devices.

  • When I add an additional phone it's asking for billing information again. Is it going to be 2 separate charges of 45 dollars? I just wanted to have 2 lines sharing the same text and minutes

  • If you use the same account then you'll only be charged for the plan once when signing up.

  • I'm bringing on a second device as well and found this post because I was wondering if it was going to reset my billing cycle since I'm adding the second device 7 days after initially signing up with the first device. I'm hoping that's not the case... but the UI seems to assume you're doing this all at once. It'd probably reduce user uncertainty by showing clearly what is going on when adding a device in the middle of the cycle.

    When adding a  new device to your existing account your current billing date and the plan you selected for this billing cycle will not be changed. The number of days remaining will stay the same and the only change you would see for this billing cycle would be a prorated cost for the newly activated device and the cost of any additional usage over the plan that you selected now that you have another active phone. Sorry for any confusion and we'll look into adding some more details when adding a new device in the middle of a billing cycle.

  • there are two iphones in this household.  When I signed up it only asked for info on one.  Can I bring the other via adding it through my new online account?

  • Hi Stephen,

     You can add the second line to your account much like you did the first one. You'll need to be logged into your Ting My Account and then on the top right-hand side of the page you will see an "Activate" link. It will be just under the very top right-hand corner where it says "Your Account". When you click the "Activate" link it will take you to that same page you used on the first phone and you'll be able to follow the same steps.
