Can I change my billing date?
Answered

Is there any way to take my current billing date and change it to a day of my choosing?  I would like it to be able to charge it at the same time as my other bills.

  • Aww, sad.

This was actually something I was planning on asking about, perhaps moving the billing date to the 1st of the month.

I know it's a pain on the backend, but there's gotta be some way to do it (end a month early or extend it with prorated fees, etc). Is this something you guys are working on?

  • I can assure you that if there was a way for us to do this, we would, however, the limitation has to do with the date being set in Sprint and not in Ting.

I wish I brought netter news, but this is in in fact the limit as we know it to be.

I will dig into this a little more, however, and if I come up with anything different to report, I promise I'll let you all know.

  • I'm told that this is not something we are actively working on. We will put it on the backlog for consideration though.

  • Thanks Ting and Andrew Costen. I also want to this.

    And I love Ting!

  • I would greatly appreciate this ability as well.  If it is not possible, is it possible to assign a date of the month that my credit card is charged?  Thanks

  • @Michael,

No, you cannot assign your charge date. Your card is billed about 3-5 days after your billing cycle ends, and your billing cycle is set based on when in the month you activated!

  • Ok, I think I have a solution that makes sense, but I would like feedback on whether or not it will work.  Since the billing date is set according to the day the first device is activated on an account:

    1) Activate a new account on the desired cycle beginning date.

Q: Billing date would then be 3-5 days later, correct?

Q: Does this require a new device be activated?

    2) Port devices from your old account to the new account.

    3) If there is an extra device involved, remove it from the account.

    4) Set everything back up how you want it, starting from scratch.

This should work, and just cost $6 if there is an extra device, right?  Thinking just use some old phone.  Maybe Ting could buy a couple of $10 used phones just for this purpose, then just use this as the protocol for changing people's billing dates?

Just my 2¢, although maybe it's worth 4¢??

  • Hey Eric, the billing date is set when the first Ting device is activated. That is correct that we typically capture funds 3-5 days after the billing date (although closer to 5).

Changing the billing date has already been requested here. There are no plans in our current roadmap to implement this right now. Appreciate the 4 cents though.

  • If this ever comes to pass, and the ability is available.......I would dearly love to be notified.

Is it possible to call or make a payment prior to the end of the billing cycle?....If the estimate of my bill is $55.00 can I apply a payment the week before the end of the billing cycle?  I have rent, cable bill, and Ting all due in the same week .

    Thanks for considering my request.!
