Cannot receive picture messages on phones (LG Marquee)
Answered

I cannot receive picture messages on my LG Marquee phone.  My wife has the same phone and is experiencing the same issue that began yesterday.  Our account has picture messages enabled so they should come through just fine.

When receiving a picture message, it displays the following in the text field:

<Subject: New Message> - Your request cannot be processed, Internal Error

Any ideas on why this is happening?  Is it a network outage?

  • Hi Kyle! Sounds like you need to update your MMS URL. Not to worry! Here's how:

    • Dial # # 3 2 8 2 # (without the spaces)
    • tap MMSC
    • Edit
    • Enter your MSL (found on your account at ting.com under Your Devices, then click on the device)
    • MMSC URL
    • change to http://mms.plspictures.com
    • OK

If you still need assistance, drop us an email at help@ting.com!

  • I've been having this problem for a couple days as well. My MMS URL is set correctly.

  • @David - try updating your PRL and Profile:

Turn WiFi off and 3G on. Go to Settings > About Phone/System Updates > Update PRL and then Settings > About Phone/System Updates > Update Profile

If this doesn't work I will send you an email to continue troubleshooting!

  • Thank you for your quick response, Katie.  I checked the ##3382# settings as well as updated both the PRL and System Updates with Wifi off, but both phones are continuing to exhibit the same problem.

  • I am getting this same issue with my Marquee, it's been going on for about a week. Both WiFi and Data will sporadically download a picture message or an iPhone group message, or give that same error "Internal Server Error" OR will give a message saying "Hidden Sender Address" with a "Message Not Found" error.

Interestingly, outgoing messages seems to work fine. So does data transfer via internet and apps. The only problem is the incoming data from messages.

Kyle, do you have any custom ROM or anything non-stock on your phone?

  • My wife also reported the same issue today.  I haven't had a chance to check it  yet (she's at work) but I'll check back later.

  • @Carla, it's totally stock.  Nothing special on it whatsoever.

  • Stock ROM Marquee, <Subject: New Message> - Your request cannot be processed, Internal Error attempting to download MMS pictures via WiFi or 3g.  MMS URL is correct and I updated the PRL and Profile. Noticed it Thursday 5/30. I don't receive too many picts so it could have been afflicted a week prior. Placing a ticket.

  • I checked my wife's phone and it's the same issue as others.  I did the suggested steps above but still no picture.  It shows "downloading", then                      *"<Subject:New Message> - Your request cannot be processed, Internal Error" *      (It can receive standard texts though)

  • Based on this thread (and a few calls we received yesterday), it does seem there may be an issue with MMS messages not arriving on LG Marquees. We are investigating to see what's going on.

  • same problem with a marquee... very frustrating!  just did all updates and a few tests, exact same error message.  this also means loosing the text in the mms and as some people using iphones send mms by default (for whatever terrible reason) this has meant missing texts, not just images.  argh!

  • Hi Jacob, hang in there. We will monitor the situation and post an update once we have reached a resolution. Thank you for your patience.

  • Just adding that I have also been experiencing this exact problem on my refurb LG Marquee for the last week or so. Stock ROM. Same error message and same situation -- receiving pictures and multiple-recipient texts (from iphones, so far as I know). I've spoken to customer service twice and we have checked the MMS url; updated PRL, profile, firmware;  and finally, did a factory reset. The problem went away for about a half day and then returned, for no discernible reason. The really frustrating part is that all of these texts are work-related, for me!

  • Ok, not just me then either. Same message, did the updates posted above. Could this have anything to do with the wifi not working at all too? When I turn it on, verify that the connection is set, click on Google Play or Nook apps and get a No connection message.

  • I don't think so, Sandra. My wifi is working fine.

  • Hey guys,

Thanks for letting us know! We're still working to find a fix, but we'll be updating this thread immediately with any information we get. Thanks for your patience.

@Sandra, you may want to do a profile and PRL update for your WiFi: Turn WiFi off and 3G on, then go to Settings > About Phone/System Updates > Update PRL and then Settings > About Phone/System Updates > Update Profile!

  • @ Katie I did that, message said the PRL was upgraded, the profile update is completed. Checked connection, IP address, and MAC address are listed, but it didn't connect to Google play. THEN I restarted and it is working now. Well, it was, all this mms and wifi goofing has killed my battery, but that is another issue. :) Thanks Katie. I won't know if those updates fixed the mms until I can turn it back on.

  • @Sandra, sounds good! Probably going to have to wait a bit on the LG Marquee issue, but the more new information we get about which phones are affected, the more we have to work with. Hang tight everybody!

  • @Katie (or other Ting staff): Is it your advice to simply wait to hear back on this thread about what to do about this continuing problem, if we have already checked MMS url and WiFi/3G settings; done PRL, profile and firmware updates; and (possibly) done a factory reset?

  • I believe that is what has been suggested.

  • [In which case, I won't call customer service again. And I'll advise people that I'm not getting the information in the texts :).]

  • At this time we're still working to get this fixed so if you do have a Marquee device and you're having an issue with MMS we'll be updating this thread as soon as we know this has been resolved. We don't have an exact time frame at the moment but we'll continue to post information here as we receive it here.

  • Hi All,

My Marquees on my account are experiencing this trouble now with pic msging. I googled the problem and it brought me to this site. Do I need to generate a ticket with TIng or will my account automatically be added to the list? And is there an ETA for resolution?  Thanks.
