I accidentally deactivated my phone (Urgent!)
Answered

I accidentally deactivated my phone, and then reactivated it. I need my old phone number back!  I meant to suspend the device not deactivate it.

I hope you can get my number back. My doctors and bank all have the old one. Thank You.

  • The existence of this thread and the existence of many replies to this thread make me think it's perhaps a little too easy to do this.  I mean it's great that Ting makes so many features available to customers, but it's perhaps like a loaded gun on the counter, and people may not quite understand what's up.  The definition of "suspend" versus "deactivate" may be a bit fuzzy.  Would you consider putting in a confirmation page in the deactivation process that announces that "If you go through with this, your phone number WILL be lost.  Continue?  Yes/No"

  • Hi Rocky,

That is definitely something that we will consider. Thanks for the feedback!

  • The problem I ran into was caused by the bring your own device page, one of the emails I got had a link to the instructions to activate which stated I had to reset my phone network settings to factory default. There should be a warning on that page, IF YOU CAN ALREADY TEXT AND EMAIL SKIP THIS STEP! I was all good and ready to go when this happened.

  • Always call, email or text Ting support for urgent issues!

Other users on his forum cannot help you here.

  • Hey Sunny,

As mentioned above, the best way to deal with specific inquiries is through a private support request instead of the public forums.  Please submit one if you haven't done so or called us yet, and we'll start working on recovering your number.
