Why can't I text?

I was able to text until to day.  It says low account balance.

  • I've been having the same issues.  All of a sudden, I can't text 'whoops, low account balance.'  I've been able to text before, and messaging seems to be enabled.

  • It's not clear, but this might actually be an error on the recipient's side, not yours.  I tried texting a couple of people, and kept getting this message, but then I found I could text and receive texts from others just fine.

  • BTW Ting, it was only on a group message.  I was able to send the message individually to all of the recipients, however.

    Most of the time these group messages are considered to be MMS, a feature that was disabled on your account. I enabled it for you but if you do not want this turned on please let me know or log into your Ting account and go to Device Settings and uncheck the box for Picture/Video Messaging.

    Since Paraic changed an account setting, you likely need to update the profile on your phone to get the changes to work.

  • Hi Sol.  I just checked your account and saw that you didn't have the option to send/receive picture messages enabled under your devices, so I turned those features on for you.

    If you ever need to change that again, please go to Your Account - Device Settings, select the device you wish to manage and click the checkbox beside "Can send and receive picture & video messages".

    Lastly, you might need to update your device's MMS settings if you brought a Sprint device to Ting before you can successfully send/receive picture messages. To do so, please go to this link, select the phone model you have and locate the instructions to correct its picture message settings.

    You could also open a support request if you need any further assistance configuring your device.

  • This issue had just occurred on my phone as well.  I received a group MMS but could not reply to it.  I created my own group text to the same individuals and was able to send.  Checked my settings online and everything seems to be checked properly.  Advice?

    If you are having trouble sending MMS messages, make sure that you are trying to send while connected to 3G or 4G rather than WiFi. It is also a good idea to update the profile of your device (settings > system update). I will be following up with you via help request. Keep an eye out for an email!
