I will be traveling to Scotland in June. Can I get phone coverage while I travel abroad?

What do I have to do? Is it possible?  Etc.

  • Hi Stephen.  Ting phones will work in many countries, however the UK and much of Europe does not use the CDMA network that our phones use, so they won't work during your travels there.

Many travellers buy a temporary phone to use while vacationing there.

  • Scotland uses GSM phone technology that is not compatible with the Sprint network, Some phone models can be unlocked to work there with a prepaid SIM.

What model phone do you have now?

  • Has this changed since 2014? Will a Ting phone work in Scotland now?

  • Hey Josh, Ting now has two network options one of which is GSM. If your phone is GSM compatible you'll be able to bring it to Scotland with you. You'll just need to go to the settings on your Ting account, under the tap "device settings" and ensure that international roaming is turned on. You'll also want to double check our rates page to understand the additional surcharges for roaming.
