Is it possible to return a phone to Sprint service after use on Ting?
Answered

I recently sold a iPhone 4 on Swappa. Sprint is telling the buyer that the phone cannot be activated because it was flashed/used with Ting. Is there a way to reverse this?

Thanks

  • Hi Josh! There absolutely is a way to reverse that. Keep your eye on your email, I'll reach out soon to confirm the MEID of that device so you can move forward with your sale!

  • Ting support needs to make database changes to permit Ting phones to move back to Sprint.

  • Marg C, please send me the procedure. Does that include phone and phone number?

  • As I previously stated, Ting support needs to make these changes. Call or email Ting support to open a ticket.

  • Hi Bruce - as Bruce Osborne indicated, it is something we have to do on our end.   Contact us and we'll be happy to help!

  • Thank you Marty. Not sure if we will go that route or not. How much time does the process take once requested, and does the request need to be submitted within a specific window of time?

Can it be requested ahead of time and if the transfer to Sprint is not performed, is there a problem returning it back to the way it is at the present?

  • I would expect that if Ting moves the device back to Sprint and you want to bring it back to Ting, just use the BYOD process. https://ting.com/byod

  • Hi Bruce!  A device has to be inactive in order to make that change, so you'll want to wait until you are ready to do the transfer.  It's very quick to do once we see your request.  And Bruce O. is right, there is no problem bringing the device back to Ting if you choose to do so - you would add it as usual to your account in Device Settings.

  • Actually, just call TING and have them reassign the phone to "SPRINT PCS".  I called and spoke to Matt; I explained that Sprint cannot see my phone; he put me on hold and came back and told me that he reassigned the phone to "SPRINT PCS", and within a second of hanging up with Matt, my device was able to be activated on MySprint.com under DASHBOARD > DEVICES > MORE OPTIONS > Activate a device ... and select the number you wish to activate your prior Ting phone.  Enter the MEID, and voila!  phone now on Sprint.
