Here's an idea, work with the Fairphone group in Europe to bring Fairphone's to the US.
Answered

Fairphone is a group in Europe committed to the responsible manufacture of smart phones. From their website (www.fairphone.com):

This quality smartphone lets us open up processes and start a conversation about what is truly fair. From conflict-free minerals to fair factory wages, we’re making improvements one step at a time. Your purchase supports better ways of doing business that aim to inspire the entire industry.

Right now they only sell and ship inside Europe. If they eventually make a Sprint-compatible phone, I think Ting should embrace it whole-heatedly.In fact, I think TIng and Fairphone are such a good match that you reach out to Fairphone and offer to help them into the US market. Just make sure I'm customer #1.

  • Ting must purchase all their phones from Sprint. Sprint solely determines which phones are permitted on their network.

  • Hi Dan - At this time, given our network carrier (Sprint) specific requirements for putting a phone on the BYOD list, this (totally interesting and cool, btw) phone won't be something we can work with.
