brio for sprint galasy s2?

I'm planning on buying the Kyocera Brio and switching over to ting.  Can I use the brio as donor phone and the sprint samsung galaxy s2 as the target phone? I only need the voice, text and mms to work on the galaxy s2. Don't care much about data. Is possible to transfer voice, text, and mms?  From my understanding (research) is that people are able to transfer voice, text and mms but have a hard time transferring data over to the target phone.  This is the Brio i'm talking about.  Am I wrong??

Sorry if this is a newbie question.  I just don't know enough about phones.

  • In theory, yes, the brio can work as a donor for any phone.

4G is a bit of a wildcard, but it might work since it's a sprint phone. Assuming you can overwrite the MEID/MDN/MIN calls and texts will work with just that. Writing the Mobile IP Settings (M.IP) with the correct MEID/MDN and AAA/HA keys from the Brio will get 3G data to work.

It seems likely, there's even a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOC13wkGlvQ

It all comes down to how willing you are to try, there's always a risk of getting things stuck. As far as I know, no one has ported this phone to Ting yet. Depending on how locked down things are, it may or may not be easy to overwrite the settings.

  • Ryan thank you for answering.  "Assuming you can overwrite the MEID/MDN/MIN calls and texts will work" .... do you have an idea of easy/hard it is to overwrite MEID/MDN/MIN??  I just want voice and text.

  • Ben,

Your original post said you want MMS too. MMS uses data for the pictures, etc.

This isn't going to work unless your willing to read, put in the time, and experiment. Again, proceed at your own risk. No one is going to spoon feed this for you.
