CM10 APN Settings?

OK, I have a Galaxy S3 on Ting. I have rooted the phone and installed CM10 (Which I love) but I have a question about the correct APN settings for this phone and Rom on Ting.

When I enter the APNs area (Using the Voice Command found in other thread, Open APNs) it shows 4 APNs that can be chosen. They are:

AON0 EHRPD ota

APN0 LTE ota

APN2 EHRPD internet

APN2 LTE internet

The first two did not have an entry for MMS server so I did not change those. The second two had sprint server settings so I changed them to mms.plspictures.com

My question is which one of the 4 should I select as the active APN settings?

I know this is a bit technical but it might help others. Also could a suggest a sticky thread with common settings that must be changed on custom ROMs like the mms server.

Thanks for saving me buttloads of money Ting!

  • Sounds like this is something people haven't played with much.

Why don't you try each of the four and see if you notice a difference (check speedtest for bandwidth changes and ping time changes).

If there's no difference, then it doesn't matter. If there is, choose the best one.

In either case, report back so we know what you found.

  • I had this same problem when I first switched my E4GT to CM. I just got the settings from my wife's phone that was stock. I actually haven't set mine up since I flashed CM10. It only effects MMS so it doesn't matter too much to me.

  • Oh I should add, none of those work probably, at least not for mms because ting uses plspictures not sprintpcs. You'll have to create a new one.

  • I'm running cm10 now on my S2, but the plspictures setting didn't work like it did in cm9. Wonder if there is something else that needs to be changed

  • You can find an APN fix for pre-4.3 and 4.3 builds of CyanogenMod here:https://help.ting.com/entries/23423026-Flashable-Zip-Fixed-LTE-eHRPD-for-CyanogenMod.  Worked very well on my Galaxy S3...

If you manually edit the visible APNs (there are a LOT of ones not visible under the APN menu in CM) to http://mms.plspictures.com, and disable LTE, 3G will work, even if you don't flash the .zip found in that solution.  You'll also have to re-flash the .zip, if/when there's any updates.
