Stock Rom Downloads?

OK, I am not a noob but I made a major Noob Error. When I rooted and installed CM10 I failed to save my stock ROM first. I can't believe I did this, I feel so stupid. Is there anywhere to download the Stock Ting Rom for my Galaxy s3 with the correct Ting settings?

Thanks

  • Ting's stock ROM for the Galaxy S3is the same as Sprint's ROM. Here is a video with links. You can likely ignore the unbricking advice.

At least you have a stock ROM available. I have a Ting HTC Detail and cannot find a stock ROM anywhere because Sprint only sold the phone to their wholesalers.

  • Unless I am missing something then it is NOT really the same as Sprint's ROM. Our phone comes with the correct MMS settings where a Sprint ROM needs to be modified.

  • The MMS Settings are either part of the profile update from Ting or are in the default settings for the modem (radios), I believe. Somebody from Ting would know for sure.  If you have the MSL, you can change the MMS URL anyway. I had to do that on my BYOD Epic 4G.

  • I have flashed several stock Sprint ROMs and radios to my Ting GS3. The MMS settings are written during activation, and probably updated during profile updates.

  • @Bruce,

Isn't the Detail basically a Evo Shift 4G? If, so here is a link to a rooted stock OTA for the Evo Shift 4G. Might help, might not?

  • Michael,

Thanks for the link. That is a modified, rooted stock ROM. I may end up putting one like that on the phone.I guess it flashes with ClockworkMod.

The EVO Shift stock ROMs are available as executable RUUs that include the modem The modem is different on the detail.

In fact, the newest ROM on the Detail is FroYo, not Gingerbread. The Detail was supposed to be equivalent to the Shift, but the shift already had a stock Gingerbread ROM when the Detail was released with FroYo.

  • I believe I've seen a few RUU's floating around for the EVO Shift (wikipedia maybe), but if the modem is different, you might be kinda screwed. :/

  • Just to complete this discussion, I found I had a Clockworkmod backup of the ROM from after I updated h-boot & recovery, but before I rooted. That's the closest I could get to stock. So, it is now stock with h-boot s-off & CWM recovery. I will perform a factory reset before I sell the phone.

    Thanks for all your help.

  • I use http://samfirmware.com to get ODIN flashable stock files. The one with the kies icon not dimmed for SPH-L710 is latest version.  To flash it, you'll want ODIN, which you can get at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738841. Be careful if you get ODIN elsewhere, as I've seen fake copies around.

  • That only works for Samsung phones. I still have an HTC Detail stuck on FroYo :)

  • I actually only read the OP closely, and the OP mentioned the S3.

https://help.ting.com/entries/21283876-Rooting-HTC-Detail-installing-Gingerbread would get you to Gingerbread CyanogenMod -- CM7 is apparently the latest supported.
