ICS versus Jelly Bean for Galaxy SII

Hello, fellow Ting users (and Ting staff).  I just came over today and everything has worked well so far.  The customer support team is great by the way.  My phone got activated and my old number was ported in just a few hours!  Anyway, I was looking into updating my Galaxy SII to Jelly Bean but then I saw some comments by some over on the Samsung phone that were negative regarding battery life, crashes, freezing, slow operation, etc.  So now maybe I am thinking that I should just stay on ice cream sandwich for a while and see how it goes.  For you who have updated, any issues?  Thanks.

  • My only complaint with the JB update is that it removed the tethering feature.  Since tethering is free on Ting I was looking forward to using that feature. Otherwise, my GS2 works fine on JB.

  • Hi Frank, and welcome to Ting!

I can't speak for everybody, but we've had very few people write in about the JB update. If you find it does affect your phone negatively, you can always downgrade back to ICS! We also allow rooting and modifying (but we don't condone it). Please note that we cannot provide helpdesk support for hacked phones. We do, however, have a customer forum dedicated to hacking!

Hope this helps with your decision. If you have any further questions or need any help, please give us a call at 1-855-846-4389! We'd be more than happy to help out. :)
