Any used Ting phones for sale/trade?

Hello all.

I purchased the Optimus S for my Ting testing. Now that I'm about to switch over completely, I know that I need something faster. I would really, really like the Samsung Galaxy SII.

Anybody have a phone that you'd be willing to sell or trade?

If you have a Galaxy phone or similar with TIng, Call or text: (989)-891-7362

Or email: Cullen J Webb @ gmail .com  (no spaces)

Thanks!

-Cullen

  • I'm not really a fan of my GS2 I just got, I thought I would like it but after having a galaxy nexus; ug. It's alright I guess.  My only other option is the photon for now, which I may take.  If I were to sell you my ting SGS2 and get a photon, It would likely be the first instance of one Ting user buying an active Ting phone from another.  Perhaps we should have some one from Ting chime in so we now how best to proceed.  I'm thinking Swappa since I already have an account on there.  How Ting wants to handle it as far as getting the phone on your account, I dunno.

I'm certainly willing to try.  Guess I better do more research into the photon for now.

  • Also, if you can wait, say another 4-5 weeks.  Ting may have more phones to announce and one or two may be in the mid-high range.  One of the reps did say they planned on adding a few more phones but nothing in the "super phone" category as far as any one knows right now.

  • Hey... I got a photon and I asked Ting if they would let me trade it back fro a GS2.  Why don't you like the GS2?

If Ting won't help me, perhaps we can help each other?

  • If either of you want to discard your phone for cash, let me know. I have 2 months left on my contract, but I'd be willing to buy it before then.

I'll check with Ting to see if they support this and let you know.

    Thanks for the response guys!

  • My wife and I just bought the Ting LG Optimus S phones and would love to sell them--they have just been activated for one week and we want to get a couple way less complicated non meg eating simple phones to take pics make calls and text a few times.

Maybe ting could help us out here.

We are either looking at the Sanyo Vero or the Kyocera Brio.

    Thanks for any help--Vince

  • Hey folks,

I thought I'd chime in here. It's tough for us to facilitate device sales between Ting customers, although the participation in this thread makes me think it might be a good idea to look at down the road. If anybody has some suggestions around how we could help in the meantime, please let me know.

    A few points:

    • Since Ting customers purchase their devices outright, there's no problem (from our end) with you selling your device to somebody else.
    • If you purchase a phone from another Ting customer and are looking to activate it, just give Support a call. Before we can activate the device on your account, we'll need to ensure there's not an activate subscription on it (so the selling party should make sure to cancel the subscription when they sell it).
    • If you're selling a Ting phone, remember to factory default it so all the information is cleared from it before it goes to another party.

    Thanks!

    -Ben

  • I'm interested in a swap for something more basic. I just bought two of the Kyocera Brio phones for my inlaws but they really need just a regular candy bar or flip phone. Anyone with the regular Sanyo or Samsung flip phones interested in swapping?

  • I have a Kyocera Milano and a Kyocera Brio for sale, $100 and $50 each plus actual shipping. Both virtually new in box used about a week. Bought for my parents to switch to ting and unfortunately they have ZERO sprint coverage in their house. I've been paying attention to the Brio and thought about keeping it for a doner now that the data keys can be found via hex dump, but I got a kid on the way and can't pickup another project. The Milano is a pretty cool phone, but community support for it is non-existent, not even a root exploit available since the last update (which mine came pre-loaded with from Ting) so I'd throw ADW launcher on it and call it a day.

Personally I still think the Conquer 4G is the best phone Ting has for the price, backed up by the Transform Ultra. The SGSII is way too expensive to justify. I don't know much about the Optimus S, I'm sure it's a good phone, but I held one awhile back and it felt pretty cheap.

I predict Ting will get the Galaxy S III in the coming months and that will be what I move to from my Conquer 4G, until then, I think it's a lovely phone after some heavy rom tweaking, 32GB Class 10 microSD and an extended 1900mah battery.

  • It's not a phone, but when I get back home next week I'll probably be interested in selling my Huawei hotspot.  I bought it about a month and a half ago as an experiment.  Now that I have a good 4G phone with Ting, I no longer need a standalone hotspot.

Ping me at pattib AT pattib dot org if you're interested.

  • I have a ting SG2 for sale for $350. It is 2 months old and is in perfect condition. I had to sadly cancel ting as sprints 3G and 4G are not reliable in my area.  Email me at mailbox236 @ hotmail.com if you are interested.

  • @ Tim: I tried emailing you about the Kyocera phones, but I'm not sure I spelled your email address correctly (how many m's is that?). If you're still trying to sell the phones, can you email me @ cara dot k dot chang at gmail dot com? Thanks!

  • I have a unused Ting Kyocera Brio for sale for $55, I'll pay shipping. I thought I was getting a $70 credit by using the offer at ting.com/HAK5... but it ended up having strings attached such that it would take almost a year to use the credit, rather than helping to pay for the phone. Phone has been activated, because I had to do that prior to seeing that the credit would not apply to the phone. Zero minutes, texts, and data on the phone. Please contact me at amdp [at] to.net if interested.

    Troy.
