MMS Error Code 225:Error Permanent service denied

I just received two Kyocera phones from Ting, everything works fine (talk and text), but when I try and send a picture through text I get this error "MMS Error Code 225:Error Permanent service denied".  I have tried it on both phones and get the same error.

Thanks for any help!

  • Hey Matthew,

Sorry about that. I've escalated this as a support request... we'll reach out soon. If you don't want to wait, feel free to call us by phone as well. :)

  • This should be working now, Matthew.

Since it's a new device for us, the Brio by default didn't have the default option to enable MMS for the device in our back-end. We're fixing that now and in the meantime, I have added it to the two numbers on your account manually.

Give it a try now and if you're still having trouble, give us a call.

    Sorry again for the trouble,

  • Hey William / Tracey

I have made sure that MMS messaging is on for your devices which will allow you to use this feature. This feature as well as many others may be set under the "Your Account" page by selecting "Settings" under your device on the right hand side of the page.

  • Mike,

Why are some of those settings turned off by default? I believe Voicemail is also disabled by default.

  • Hi Bruce,

Some customers don't want want voicemail enabled since they're using call forwarding to Google Voice, for example. If we enabled it by default, we'd make satisfy your requirement, but impact others.

We are making changes to how devices are activated, and in a future release we'll be more "in your face" about the options customers wish to have enabled while they're activating a device.

  •  Hi Eric, That error usually comes up because MMS messaging is not enabled on your device. Sign into your Ting account and go to device settings, and make sure to place a check beside “Can send and receive picture & video messages “ and hit save at the bottom. Let us know if you need any assistance by going here

  • Hey there Kenneth, make sure the option to send and receive picture messages is enabled on your Ting account then reboot your phone and that should clear the error for you. I see the help request you sent in today and will follow up with you there.
