Customer Service

I have been with Virgin Mobile, and with Boost (which lasted a month) and ended up dropping both because of issues usually with sending/receiving text messages and lack of internet access.  I realize that all networks at times have problems but their customer service, based somewhere in India was just plain useless.

I am considering a move to ting (I won't do sprint because I don't like "contract" phones) and I am curious, where is your customer service based out of?

Please tell me it's not the same company that provides for Virgin and Boost

  • I believe it's in-house.  What I do know is that it is absolutely great - second to none!

  • Agreed, second to none. Give them a call and see for yourself. Ask them to make dinosaur noises or something; they'd probably do it.

  • A real person answers the phone, and actually helps you.

  • I had some pre-sale questions and the person who answered was knowlegeable, polite, patient, and spoke native English.  You can't get much better than that.

  • Hi Paul,

All of our customer service is handled from Canada.

Ting is a part of Tucows and most of us are headquartered in Toronto, specifically, the Liberty Village area. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, you should stop by for a visit... would love to chat over coffee.

Check out the weather first before you come... it's been pretty rainy lately: http://216.40.46.34  <-- this is our Tucows weather station some of the staff mounted on the roof of our building.

    Have a fantastic evening,

    -Ben

PS: Thanks to everybody else for the kind words about our customer service team... I'll be sure to pass it along. :-)

  • They have great customer support.  I have only used their online support and never have problem.

  • That's what I like to hear...

Right then, now I just have to convince the missus that me getting another new android phone in the space of 3 months is a good idea and I'll be switching :P

  • I talked on the phone many times as this was my first smart phone and I needed to make sure the LG LS670 would work with a specific app.  Someone worked with me by testing it and it took a long time.  It was fun actually.  Yes, its actually fun to call for tech support with Ting.

  • I have talked to them on the phone, and sent a service request in online. In both cases they were great. This is my first smartphone. I was using net10 before I came to Ting. If you want some absolutely worthless customer support go to net10. Nothing but nice to say about Ting.

  • From my limited experience, Ting has pretty good customer service comparing with other carriers. Right now they are helping me with the signal issue with my newly purchased epic 4g touch.

Btw, can somebody from Ting take a look at this request:

    Request #12285

It has been sitting there for 3 days. Thanks.

  • Hi Weijiang,

I just replied to your request... sorry for the delay. Troubleshooting signal issues do take a bit longer, especially when they involve troubleshooting the network side of things.

We'll be in touch today with some more detail for you,

    -Ben

  • Hey thanks for the kind words everybody!

@Graham, so glad to hear that you found it fun. You certainly helped Monte earn his paycheck while researching whether or not your DMSS-Pro app would work on your device. Hope things are working well!

@Ray, so glad to hear that your happy with our support team. I'll make sure they get this feedback.

  • I was just on a the chatline with Clair O. while handling an errant port request. I accidentally disconnected when I tried to minimize the applet.

Anyway, I appreciate the patience, understanding, and care that Ting gives to its customers. It's the primary reason I switched, and I'm very glad that I did. While the last few days of switching my number from MetroPOS have been excruciating, your staff has been extremely polite, helpful, and understanding.

For future reference though, if anyone is switching from Metro(Piece of ____), make sure your SIM card is in the right slot in your phone. Some phones have multiple slots, and once your account gets ported, Metro basically disowns you as a customer and cuts off ALL forms of contact. Just know though, that if they did that, your request went through, it just doesn't show that it did on Ting, for some reason.

I would like to help improve this if possible so as to save someone else the same heart attack I almost had (figuratively speaking), so let me know how I can do that.

    Thanks again.

  • Ting support has been inundated with calls due to various unforeseen events and is training more staff.

You can try email or chat. I have found chat to be the most responsive. You can find chat in the lower right of your Ting dashboard or in the lower right at https://ting.com/byod

  • They have been busy and more staff is being trained. As I previously stated. I still find chat the nest way to contact. I usually leave the chat window running, checking it periodically when I am waiting in line for support.

  • I am out of the country for over ten months now. The card I am using to pay my bill has been hacked and the bank closed it. I do not have any other card to use. I will be back in the States in September. It is only then that I will be able to pay my bill. I have not used my phone for the length of time I am out of the country. Can I pay my bills when I come. Help!
