MMS Message Takes ONE MONTH to Deliver?

A text message with photo sent on 9/20/12, and presumed long lost, suddenly arrived in the middle of the night on 10/17/12.

This can't be the status quo for MMS on Ting, can it?  Were MMS services down the whole time?

(If it matters, it was sent from a Ting phone to an AT&T Blackberry.  Both the "sent" message on the Ting Android phone and the received message on the BB have roughly the same 10/17 timestamp.)

There's no way this was human error, either -- the sender was sleeping far from the phone when the message was actually sent.

Any ideas?

  • I know we have sent MMS messages from Ting to Verizon during that period, so MMS was definitely working.

Perhaps an issue on the AT&T end?

  • This is one of the downsides to SMS/MMS. Messages can get delayed within the networks, and sometimes they even get dropped altogether without anybody ever being alerted (this is why I personally use email when I have an important message that has to make it through).

It's definitely not the status quo for Ting though, as delays aren't something we've heard of happening often.

  • Thanks, so at least one fellow sufferer then.  By the way, regular SMS worked pretty much flawlessly during the period.

  • I am also experiencing problems with MMS, I bought the S3 through Ting, is there any other easier solutions than rooting the phone like some people have done so on the forum??

  • Rooting is not a solution to MMS messages being delayed. I have experienced the occasional delayed messages on Sprint over several years so it isn't new.

  • You might want to check this thread. The MSL code for your phone may be in the intial activation email you received. If not you can call Ting to walk you through troubleshooting, as well as get the MSL.
