Dashboard / billing activity dates off by one day

I'ts not a big thing, but it's kind of curious.  Activity I have performed recently gets logged as having occurred on the previous day.  For instance, a call made todayy, 2012-11-10, is listed as having occurred on 2012-11-09.

  • Ed,

What timezone are you in? I believe Tin uses Pacific Time on their dashboard. The Android app probably translates the dashboard time to your current timezone.

  • Our times are based on Central Time.

Are you seeing this date shift on ALL usage or just some of it?

    Anyone else seeing this?

  • I'm pacific.

Data activity was 11-09-12 afternoon PST (roughly between 1400-1800 PST).

    Shows up as 11-08.

Also some very small data activity 0400-ish 11-10-12 PST hasn't shown up in the activity report............

  • I'm in PST, but the shift is exactly one day - calls made at 11am today are listed as having occurred at 11am yesterday. I dont know when the shift occurred - I don't write my call log down, as that's what Ting's supposed to do :)

  • As a more important side effect, my billing cycle just reset, but the usage statistics did not.  My billing cycle now says 29 days left, but my SMS total has remained at 109, and includes the past 30 days' history.  This one now merits investigation by Ting, IMO.

  • Hi,

I'm in EST, but items are showing up as one day off even when they occurred at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, so it should have been the same everywhere in the US (even in Hawaii).  This is true for voice, texts, and data usage.

As others have said, the unofficial app is correct though.

  • If you're near a minutes/message/megabyte size limit and near the end of a billing period, it can actually affect something more than curiousity.  Some programmer has created an off-by-one error somewhere in the reporting system.

  • This, I have to say, rather curious.

As Brian has indicated that the unofficial Ting app is itself scraping data from these exact same account pages I can't imagine why the app would be accurate while the dashboard isn't.

With that said, I'll pass word along.

Rest assured Todd that any indication that your previous month's usage was being carried over and thus duplicately billed this month has been corrected already. :)

And for anyone who doesn't know about it already and is interested in the unofficial Ting app for Android, here you are: https://help.ting.com/entries/21570097-unofficial-android-app?page=1

  • Could this somehow be related to the particular browser used?

    Just another thought.

  • No, it appears in error on Chrome (portable edition - that thing ain't going on my hard drive) and Firefox,  as well as IE9 (Win7 x64), the original source of the discovery.

  • I'm also experiencing this. Curious thing: just received and activated our Ting phones on 11/09 but the first usage on our dashboard is 11/08 (when we didn't even have the phones).

  • Any idea on when this will be fixed?

(dates worked just fine with the old dashboard............)

  • This isn't a universal issue that we've noticed, so presuming it isn't just a timezone difference causing confusion, anybody who experiences it should definitely contact support so we can investigate your account to see why it appears to be off.

  • Are you saying that we each should log an official service request?

  • Yes, the dates are correct for me now as well.  Some developer just had an a-ha moment and cleaned it up.
