EVO 4G random reboot

I've hit the net and dug, but apparently this is a problem with these phones, randomly rebooting for no apparent reason, but I can't find any answers anywhere, either on the HTC support site, or the ROM maker's support sections.

Mine has done it a few times, mine was bought brand new. My wife's refurb has been absolutely fine, a  friend I brought over to ting with the same phone as a refurb is seeing her phone rebooting when in a loose pocket.

Anyone run across this, or better yet, figured a fix? There's been a lot of guesses it's due to overheating, but mine's done it sitting on the coffee table, not charging or being used. Weird, but would like to get to the bottom of this, and wondered if any of you had any ideas.

Thanks-

  • Hello.  I've heard that the battery could be slightly warped and it could be causing the phone to cycle/reboot.  If you haven't already tried a new battery, you might try that just to see if it solves the problem.  You could swap with your wife's battery, but she might not appreciate it if her's starts to fail too.  Good luck, I hope you find a solution!

  • Well, this suggestion led to the possible problem. The microSD card wasn't latched down tightly, which would in turn bump the battery upward. Latched it down, and will see if that was the problem.
