Galaxy S3 Data Not Working When Leaving Wifi

I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 to the new version of Android (4.1.2) using an OTA update.  Since then, I've had two cases where I've left my home (on Wifi) and had no data connectivity.  The phone shows a connection to 3G, and the arrows light up, but nothing works.  Toggling airplane mode seems fix the problem temporarily.

Anyone else with this same problem?

  • Hi Ali,

I will be contacting you via support request to give you a hand with your device. Keep an eye out for an email! For anybody else viewing this thread, make sure that data is enabled on your Ting account by signing into Ting.com. Go to device settings, click on your phone number and ensure that "can access the internet" has a check mark next to it. It is also a good idea to go through the activation steps for your device as well. If you need any additional help, please contact our support team.

  • Hi Kingsley,

It sounds like you are having trouble using your GSM device on AT&T's network. Your best bet would be to contact your current carrier's support team to get some help with that. I'd also like to remind you that Ting will be offering GSM support next year and you would be able to bring your current device over to our service!

  • I had the same problem with my S3, when I was in roaming. Found that my carrier Airtel had two different networks showing up. one was "Airtel" and one was "airtel". I switched from to the other and lo behold the problem was solved at once. See if
