dropped calls

I was really excited to move to Ting, I love the business model and couldn't be more pleased with the customer service. But now that I've been moved over for the last couple of months, I have to say, I'm really reconsidering my decision due to no signal and continually dropping calls. I purchased an S2 from Ting and I work in downtown Chicago, so it's not like I'm in a area of bad service. The person that sits next to me has an S3, is also on Sprints network (direct with Sprint) and suffers none of the issues that I have.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there anything that I can do to fix this?

  • Hi Chet, I see Tameika was able to work with you to fix your phone using a profile update on the device.

  • Hi Brennan,

I think there is a mistake. I haven't heard from anyone yet. I had already taken the step of updating my PRL profile on the phone, if that is what you meant, but it didn't help at all.

  • Karen,

You should call or email Ting. They can then specifically troubleshoot your device.

  • We have been having the same problem for several months.  My Samsung Galaxy 3 works fine, but my wife's Galaxy 3 drops calls all the time.  She has been through updates and finally gave up.  She switched her number to an older phone we had laying around the house.  Now it is dropping calls too.  How can this happen when I have no problems with my phone?

  • Note above written by Brad, the husband on this account.  We both bought new SG3 phones from Ting late summer 2013.

  • Hey Jessica and Brad,

I can see that you've sent in a support request. I'm going to be replying to that so we can try to get this sorted out :)

  • I am having the same problem with my iPhone 4S. Calls dropped throughout the day. Resetting network and profile update did not help. Is there any other thing I can try?

  • Hi all. I just noticed this thread, and I would really like to weigh in and suggest that people start putting in requests the right way rather than posting them here. I don't work for Ting or speak for them, but I do work in IT support for a very large company. Generally, putting a post on a forum is one of the worst ways to get customer support, because you aren't in any kind of a tracking system and your requests can easily get lost or forgotten. Also, back and forth communication history is not easy to see, as you are one voice in a thread of many. If you want the best chance of getting your issue resolved, I suspect the best way to go about it would be to scroll to the top of this page, and click that big "Submit a Request" link near the top right corner.

Again, I don't work for Ting and don't speak for them, but I respond to IT tickets daily, and the best way for me to track a person is to have them right in front of me in the centralized ticketing system. The worst way would be for them to be spread throughout random forum posts all across a website. Just my 2 cents. I hope you all have a good day and get your issues fixed.

  • Hi Abbey,

I can see that you have an open request with Ryan. He'll be able to help you out with this.

Jasen, You're absolutely right. The forums are not the best place to seek out support. People generally tend to post so that other people within the community who have had the same issue can hop in and provide their 2 cents to try and help out. In most cases where it does require a lot of troubleshooting we will absolutely take the conversation to a private support request. We are also able to track the comments left by any user in any forum as our ticketing system and our forums are linked together. It can be pretty handy :)
