  • Nope, not yet.  Waiting for the update to be able to add widgets to the lock screen natively.

  • So it comes at the same time for Ting users as Sprint users? I just switched two weeks ago and I am wondering. I will probably side load as soon as the zip becomes available.

  • I assume so, but I don't actually know... I just switched last week myself.

By the way, zip is available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539120

  • Hey David and Demetrius, Sprint releases updates in batches that are a mixed bag of Sprint and MVNO customers. Some of you may get the update after some Sprint customers but many of you could get the update before other Sprint users.

  • Thanks! Since I ported my sprint phone over, I'm hoping for sooner rather than later.

  • For anyone interested, I have an unrooted s3 and I have installed the zip from David's link above and all is working fine. Nice update.

  • Will the update happen over WIFI? Or only if we have Mobile Data turned on?

  • Hey Alex,

Either or will suffice. One will incur usage on your Ting bill, the other will not. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks, that answers my questions. I don't normally have mobile data on because I don't need it (love Ting for the ability to do that). I wanted to make sure I'll still get the update when they get around to my phone.

  • My wife's Samsung Galaxy S3 was updated to 4.3 yesterday. Was offered automatically in the notifications. My phone not yet.

  • After my wife got her Samsung gs3 update, my phone still didn't offer the update to me. So I fired up Kies on my windows 8.1 pc with my phone connected via usb, and then was offered the update. After updating, I checking all the versions and builds, and they were identical to hers. The build is dated November 11.

  • Update available via Kies, New Jersey here! Only issue I encountered was that in the notification bar it kept showing that it was downloading wallpapers that I had previously removed, easily fixed by clearing download history. Nice changes, works great!

  • My S3 was updated to Android 4.3 on 12/2/13 over WiFi. Our other S3 has not downloaded the update yet.

The new update is not working well for me - it's sluggish switching apps, drains the battery in less than 12 hours, flashes the camera flash when the alarm goes off or phone rings, has a shrunken unlock keypad, and leaves home screen folders open when returning to the home screen.

Overall the user interface and useability is degraded with the 4.3 version of Android. If I could go back and choose again, I would not upgrade at this time.

We are starting a list of  problems and solutions here:

  • One other issue - upgrading reset all my phone and alarm ringtone settings so I had to go back in and update them all again. It also lost settings for phone numbers that were supposed to not ring when they call me.
