I have a new Samsung Galaxy Victory. I use Google Voice on it with GrooveIP. I recently changed the GV setting to "Use GV for all calls." I thought this would happen only when there's a Wi-Fi connection. Anyway, my battery started discharging at an incredible rate. After about 7 hours, it'd be down to 2%, and the battery settings indicated that "Phone" was consuming 25% of the battery, even more than "Android OS" at 23%.
When I changed that setting back to "Don't use GV to make calls," the usage went back to normal.
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on here? (It's academic because I'm going to use GrooveIP if I want to use VoIP to make a call, but I'm still curious.) Thanks.
